| Rage Of The Month: July 2011
The best Metal albums that came out in July 2011. | | 5 | | Hands Give Me Rest
An original and captivating album both musically and lyrically. With this
release Hands has shown just how proficient they are at writing a very
good Metalcore record with just the right amount of outside influences. /
Rating: 3.5 | | 4 | | Disma Towards The Megalith
I haven't heard such a good Death Metal album this year since Beyond
Creation's The Aura. While Disma aren't re-inventing the wheel, playing a
fairly tried-and-true brand of death metal, they do it so well, you can
shamelessly overlook the general lack of originality, and just bang your
fucking head while you listen to this. / Rating: 3.5 | | 3 | | Falls Of Rauros The Light That Dwells In Rotten Wood
With only six tracks, each song better well be worth it, and I can tell you
that they really are. While this is pretty great Black Metal, what makes this
album such a wonderful experience are the beautiful Folk melodies that
have been incorporated in the band's music. / Rating: 4 | | 2 | | Chthonic Takasago Army
Being a representative of one of the few internationally successful metal
acts from the Far East is not easy, even less so when the nation you
represent still fights for total independence. In my view this is as good as
Seediq Bale, but with better production. / Rating: 4 | | 1 | | Toxic Holocaust Conjure And Command
Musicianship wise, the album doesn't stray too far from the time-honored
staples of Thrash. Galloping rhythms, sheet metal-power chords and
rhythmic vocals will all no doubt sound familiar to listeners experienced in
the genre. However, it never sounds like a half-assed attempt at cashing in
on the Thrash scene by employing cheap musical tropes; it's a carefully
crafted metal record with ambition, one that takes these classic elements
and showcases them at their strongest. / Rating: 4 | |
