08.15.11 | Inb4 dick jokes. |
nodding
08.15.11 | live music sucks |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | I can't get it (if I decide to) for about another month anyway so there's still ample time to back out, I've got a list of things if this doesn't pan out. |
twlight
08.15.11 | I've got a 100 watt Marshall amp.
does the trivk for live shows. about 400-600 buckaroos
if you play guitar that is... |
twlight
08.15.11 | "live music sucks"
and this kid doesn't know what he's talking about
|
Acanthus
08.15.11 | Nah man thanks though, I'm sure you could find a buyer for it pretty soon if you set your mind to it.
I love live shows, concerts rock. |
twlight
08.15.11 | not looking to sell it, just telling you what i have
what kinda music do you play? |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | We're actually at the semi-recording/mastering stage for an EBM act (only a few tracks out of the 10/12 we have planned), looking into full synthesizers with vocoders currently; I'm on key's/clean vocals (mainly chorus work). They're not too terrible price wise, just one more thing needed to make things run smoother. |
twlight
08.15.11 | that's cool dude keep it up |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | Oh I plan on it, once some things are ironed out we've got plans for a small two week tour and obviously local shows as well.
If it's needed I'll take up the guitar and stick with it this time, there's a Gibson with my name written all over it online. |
twlight
08.15.11 | well shit Gibson's sound beastly, that's be sick to incorporate some Guitar into your EBM |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | I've messed with learning to play before, and can read sheet music but I was no where near this inspired/determined; a band mate helps wonders for that. |
twlight
08.15.11 | well i can't read sheet music on guitar (can on barritone, trumpet and trombone)
i just sat down with a guitar for a couple years and started to shred, it just takes a lot of practice/jamming with people |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | Yeah I've heard that, I played saxophone for six years and am new to the keys but they're coming along faster than expected for now and that's always nice. |
iFghtffyrdmns
08.15.11 | I've got a 20 dollar bill
that says no one's ever seen you
without makeup |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | Never got into Brand New much, but I was without makeup today. |
iFghtffyrdmns
08.15.11 | Alas I am wrong on two accounts then.
I'm just pleased you at least caught the reference pal.
For that... I go on with my night as usual as if nothing significant happened. Right-o. |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | It's cool, sorry to overly disappoint one one account however. |
iFghtffyrdmns
08.15.11 | No no, don't apologize.
You need to get you m/ on.
I need to get my whine on.
All's fair. |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | You play anything sir? |
iFghtffyrdmns
08.15.11 | http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/194/cheektowaga201108150000.jpg/
that guy right over there. you like my pseudo-artsy photography? Cause I don't.
Don't get too excited though, it's just an Epiphone. I don't play it much anymore, I mess around with acoustic more often now but mostly just simple drunken singalong stuff with drunk friends. |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | I'm not a huge guitar junkie, you don't have to worry much. Drunken singalongs sound like fun times, I'm sure it's nice to mess around with. |
iFghtffyrdmns
08.15.11 | yeah sure it does the job.
so what do you play then? |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | Oh not much atm, learning the keyboard and messing with vocals though if I wanted I could pick up the sax again pretty quickly. |
iFghtffyrdmns
08.15.11 | right on, sax seems like it would be a cool thing to play, one because it's just inherently cool sounding, and two because it's sort of a unique talent when put up against all the "guitarists" or "drummers" out there. |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | Yeah I marched with it and such for 6 years, just got tired of the teachers always being replaced (my school sucked about that). I've gained more respect for it now, might go back to it some day. |
TomArnoldsArmpit
08.15.11 | I sold all my equipment before I moved back to oregon :(
Actually made more money selling it than I paid for it. But fuck, I miss my shit. |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | Hey at least you made a profit, though I do understand about missing it once it's gone. |
TomArnoldsArmpit
08.15.11 | Well the marshall cab I had isn't even in production (as far as I know) anymore... so it's not like I can just buy another one. Oh well. |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | True, but don't give up all hope - ebay's a marvelous place if you really want something. |
TomArnoldsArmpit
08.15.11 | I have a really hard time trusting ebay for shit like that. I'd rather pay the extra money to buy something brand new, be able to try it out first, have a warranty, etc.
If I find myself sitting on an extra 2000 bucks in the next few months, I might just break down and get a new setup. |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | Hahaha yeah that's a lot of money, but if it made you happy and you miss it that much I'd say go for it personally.
I've always steered clear of buying used instruments/gear myself, sometimes I just don't know enough to trust a used piece. |
TomArnoldsArmpit
08.15.11 | Exactly. You never know what used equipment has been through unless you can peep it before you buy it. Even if it looks prestine, it could still have had 400 dicks wiped on it. Who knows! |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | Agreed, I mean videogame equipment and other stuff I do buy used but I doubt I'll do it for music related things unless I'm in a tight spot or know the seller well (and that's only for speakers and stuff). |
TomArnoldsArmpit
08.15.11 | Well yeah, buying a used xbox controller is incredibly different than buying a used Crate head (for example). |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | Indeed it would be, even used guitars have to be treated with caution or some I'm told. |
twlight
08.15.11 | "Yeah I marched with it and such for 6 years"
marching band FTW
learned so much in it |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | Oh man so true, it was pretty fun too even when things got cold outside. |
twlight
08.15.11 | yeah i had a great time in it, marching through Colorado snowstorms was intense |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | Damn I would say so, CO is a pretty awesome place though I've only been there a few times always liked it. |
TomArnoldsArmpit
08.15.11 | Colorado springs was fun when I went. The other two places (Pueblo, and the Denver airport) did nothing for me. Pueblo is a shithole. |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | I've got extended family in Colorado Springs (don't talk with them much), and Pueblo was an ok place but I didn't spend much time there. |
TomArnoldsArmpit
08.15.11 | We have different perceptions of what is deemed an "ok" town, good sir. That place is as rotten as it gets. It's like if wal mart were a city. Stinky, and full of mexicans who live like white trash. |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | At the time I was from a place containing 500 people, I've not been back there (Pueblo) in at least 4 years so i can definitely say my perception might have been skewed. |
tombits
08.15.11 | i just blew 1300AU on an american standard strat, no regrets there. next up is a vox ac15 with the alnico blue and a shitload of pedals. guitar gear is a fucking financial black hole. |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | Yes sir I would have to agree there, but if your passionate about it I'd think it would be worth the money and effort. |
TomArnoldsArmpit
08.15.11 | "guitar gear is a fucking financial black hole."
Idk dude, its all relative. I've spent thousands of dollars throughout the years, but I never buy anything without researching it and concluding that what I'm getting is a "deal". |
Acanthus
08.15.11 | People spend a ton of money on hobbies true, it does seem like a lot if just glanced at however. |
tombits
08.15.11 | i love spending money on new gear, it's really the only reason (along with petrol money) that I work at the moment. it really does add up though. |
