Slipknot Rated

OK, I know what you're thinking. "Mallcore here?". Get this straight in your head: these guys actually killed mallcore. They were the pioneers of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal. Anyway I'm looking forward for their next album so let's see what they've got (R.I.P. Paul Gray 1972-2010).

Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.

The one the mallcore kids ignore. A highly ecletic (by "ecletic" I mean "almost RATM-ish") record which shows up a bit of what Slipknot would become. It's a good album but I'm not much happy with a Slipknot album without Taylor, Thomson or Jordison.

Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)

Many people bash this album as if it was some sort of pop rec or something. Come on, it's not as heavy, bu it's artsy, it's technical and it's different. "The Blister Exists", or even "The Nameless" are heavy songs (in a general approach). What have you got against art-metal?

Slipknot

This album has more than quality. It is also the album that took extreme metal to the mainstream, igniting the New Wave of American Heavy Metal. It may sound bland here and there, but it's still pretty brutal. Notable songs are "(sic)", "Eyeless" and "Only One". Oh, and "Get This" (special edition only). Here comes the pain!

Iowa

I know many people are going to hate me for not giving this the #1 spot, but I still love this album. It's much more brutal than their previous and it doesn't really mellow anywhere. Mick Thomson's guitar is also pretty sick. Many of their greatest songs are from this album. Basically, Slipknot's Vulgar Display of Power.

All Hope Is Gone

Hellyeah. I got this for Christmas when I was 15. At the time, it was the most brutal album I had ever heard in my life. And I still feel something absolutely brutal in it. "America the Killing Name" (non-official name), "This Cold Black", "Wherein Lies Continue" and "All Hope Is Gone" are the most brutal songs they've ever made. Joey Jordison's drumming is at its best and Corey Taylor's voice sounds deeper than before. A true masterpiece.
