Sheer Ferocity Vol. 1
I've put together a list of visceral metalcore songs that are great for when you want to freak-out in to random fits of air guitar-ing and head-banging. Or just randomly punching someone in the face. |
1 | Linkin Park Opening
This acts as sort of a slow intro into the album. I chose it because I think the contrast between the strings and the in-your-face opener of the song following this one. |
2 | Underoath You're Ever So Inviting
Brutal and easy to get in to. Underoath remains the master of the metalcore genre and this song is no exception. |
3 | Glassjaw Tip Your Bartender
Raw and unapologetic. I love the loss of control you feel when listening to this song. |
4 | Asking Alexandria Dear Insanity
A lot of people have crucified Asking Alexandria as being one of the worst metalcore bands to ever come out. Second only to Emmure. I, personally enjoy listening to the occasional glossy, breakdown-ridden song from AA. |
5 | Underoath Illuminator
I love the rhythm of this song. I feel like it should be played with its own light show. Plus, if you hadn't noticed, I love UO. |
6 | Letlive The Sick, Sick, 6.8 Billion
I love this band for pretty much the same reason I love Glassjaw. I like the feeling of raw anger this song projects. |
7 | August Burns Red Empire
Do I need to really describe why ABR is on here? Few people do brutal better than they do. This song is no exception. |
8 | Underoath The Only Survivor Was Miraculously Unharmed
In your face music from the people who do it best? Yes, please. |
9 | The Devil Wears Prada Sassafras
While I'm not a HUGE fan of TDWP they still have made one or two of my favorite songs in the genre. This is one of them. |
10 | The Chariot Evolve:
I only recently discovered The Chariot. I love the out of control feeling they have. The whole song (and album) feels thrown together but it came out well. Like they just started jamming and, eventually, something coherent came out. The creative process works in mysterious ways. |
11 | Between the Buried and Me Viridian
I wanted to include more BTBAM in this mix but I couldn't for sheer time constraints (I created this mix to fit on one CD) I also feel like BTBAM transcends mere "brutalness" and, therefore, needs to be part of a more respectable list. This song acts as an intermission of sorts. I'll probably make Vol. 2 10 tracks instead of 20 so I can add more BTBAM. |
12 | Underoath Vacant Mouth
Since UO released Disambiguation last year, this song has been one of my favorites. I especially love the drumming in the opening. |
13 | August Burns Red Internal Cannon
This song is exactly what its title implies: a fucking explosion! I love the random latin beats that are spread throughout the song. One or two more releases of growth and ABR will be as experimental as BTBAM. And maybe even on the same level. I can't wait for that day! |
14 | Letlive Over Being Under
Like listening to pure cocaine diluted by nothing. |
15 | Slipknot All Hope Is Gone
I love the speed of this song as well as the screamed mantra: "All hope is gone!" No time to put more Slipknot on this mix, there will be plenty more of them on Vol. 2. |
16 | Underoath Breathing In A New Mentality
Immediate and in your face. Although not one of my favorite releases from UO I think it fits the theme of the mix and carries with it a high degree of intensity. |
17 | The Chariot Teach:
Good song for punching someone in the face to. |
18 | Asking Alexandria A Single Moment of Sincerity
Troll as much as you want, this song has some sweet breakdowns and it's good screaming fun. I'll never understand the amazing amount of negativity that this band gets. they aren't amazing but there are INFINITELY worse bands to troll about. |
19 | Letlive Casino Columbus
Pure. Raw. Unfiltered. Unrestrained. Rage. |
20 | Underoath Casting Such A Thin Shadow
This is one of my top five favorite UO songs and I wanted to have a song that sort of slowed your pulse down a bit after listening to an hour of pure ferocity. It works well as an outro. |
