| Tool - Pushit, Salival Reworking
Having recently acquired Tool's pseudo live album 'Salival', I
couldn't help but have my interest piqued by the live reworking of
Pushit. It's a much more melodic, atmospheric, tribal and
emotional interpretation of the song, and I can't say it's better or
worse than the original. It's goddamn compelling though, that's
for sure. If you've heard it, what do you think? | 1 | | Tool Salival | 2 | | Porcupine Tree In Absentia | 3 | | Band Album | 4 | | Band Album | 5 | | Band Album | |

08.07.11 | I dig it. I for one think their cover of No Quarters from this disc even tops the original. | Skweetis
08.07.11 | Yes, it's far superior to the album version on Aenima. And Tool needs to put out a legit live album and live dvd/blu ray for effs sake. | Underflow
08.07.11 | Yeah, it's definitely better. | Dis_Con_Nec_Ted
08.07.11 | This song, No Quarter and You Lied alone make Salival a 4 to me.
Also, it's worth noting the difference that the added low note/line on the bass makes when Pushit gets up in gear. Studio version feels a little empty in that section. | eggsvonsatan
08.07.11 | The tabla on Pushit is damn cool. I also really like the version of third eye and No quarter. | benkim
08.15.11 | It is much better than the album version for me. | Rev

08.16.11 | If that was then years ago then ok, I'd have picked it up myself too but then again I wasn't a fan of Tool back then.
They should seriously re-release it but they're arrogant assholes who tease their fans.

08.17.11 | I like the Salival version a tad better, but that doesn't take anything away from the Aenima version | Puzzles
08.17.11 | Yeah both versions are great in their own right.. I wouldn't say either is "better" than the other. I still don't really dig the production on Aenima.. It sounds like it was made in some junky's garage, drums recorded with a handheld and with some $100 guitars distorted to shit. Depends whose perspective you're listening frm though.
And seriously, a squealing pig? That's pretty harsh haha. I really dig his vocals 90% of the time, but that's just my opinion. |
