Because you can say for instance that warcraft 3 is better than the first one because of graphics and gameplay but when Warcraft came out it was the pinnacle of what a RTS was warcraft 3 did have better graphics and gameplay but it didn't break the same ground that the first one did. |

This is why, if I were to make such a list, in order to avoid such discrepancies, I would list, for example, the Halo Series or the Warcraft series. But there are some series which avoid this issue: see Far Cry. The original Far Cry is my favorite game of all time, but the follow-up was a disappointment. And speaking of Far Cry, has anyone seen the E3 video of Far Cry 3? The game looks amazing. |

You might think, "Learn the proper usage of the word 'literal.'" ...I do. Most maps are literally linear. 80% of the game is go from Point A to Point B, with absolutely nowhere else to go. It'd be like a 3.5 album on this site. Likeable but not really satisfying. |

08.07.11 | final fantasy 13 is pretty legit. seems a bit more streamlined and quicker than other final fantasies to dumb it down but its the first rpg i've played where you actually need debuffs. makes it more strategic than any of the other final fantasies i've played. |

TBH I didn't really like the characters bar Lightning. I didn't hate them either (except Vanille's voice IIRC) but it wasn't like the older games where I liked basically all the characters. 08.07.11 | indeed. i didn't think the game was that bad cause the fighting was fun, but i remember the previous ff's not to be so linear. like xtoxin said literally from point a to point b. i wasted so much time because with all rpg's i look almost EVERYWHERE cause i hate missing stuff, and i found nothing hidden in ff13. and i don't know why but i loved that card game in ff8 -_- i seriously played that thing by itself for like 3 hours once. |
