08.02.11 | Yes. In my opinion it blows. The "I'm sober, happy Shady" needs to go away. He isn't good when he's not pissed. |
Killahit

08.02.11 | I thought you were going to ask about actual recovery. |
sublimefan1991
08.03.11 | there are several problems w/ recovery:
1) w/ so many producers, it sounds scattered and has zero flow as an album.
2) between the new producers and the actual musicians behind the music, the beats sound like any other generic ones out there these days.
3) far too many guest appearances, and most of them are awful. there are guest singers and/or samples of singers on 12 songs (including a corny-ass choir of kids once), and maybe 3 or 4 work well. and the only guest rapper is lil wayne (even though in that same song, em refers to other rappers and asks, "why the fuck would i join them when i beat them?"), and he brings nothing fresh or exciting.
4) em's flow is whack. like he feels like he has to shout-rap everything to make listeners feel like he still has the intensity he did back in the day, but it comes out horribly and you can really tell he's trying too hard.
5) there are very few "oh no he didn't" moments/punchlines on the whole album, whereas there were dozens per song back in his hayday.
6) em hardly makes use of his skill of multi-syllable rhymes and line-after-line-after-line-type rhymes. listen to infinite or relapse and then recovery, and it's not even close skill-wise. |
Trebor.
08.03.11 | Of course it sucks |

08.03.11 | Actually, fuck all these guys. Recovery rules. Just 'cause he's sober doesn't mean he's not pissed. |
