Along with the genuinely emotive storytelling and utterly stunning visuals, it brought a supreme ambition and complexity to a mainstream Michael Bay-fed audience that had not been seen in a long time. I am thankful for its success
While it is arguable that The Joker was the best thing in The Dark Knight, I have faith in Christopher Nolan. He brings such ambition and talent that is incredibly hard for him to fall. Not to mention the film has a fantastic cast.
Although I would have thought my deliberate hyperbole in calling it "the best movie ever" was obvious... |

it is annoying when summer-blockbuster-action type movies with any effort put into acting/writing/directing are hyped to shit just because Bay has set the bar so low. |
Titan50
08.01.11 | In all of Nolan's films, the casting is flawless. Therefore, I'm confident in Hathaway. I mean, he managed to flesh out the otherwise fairly inept role of Alfred simply by placing him in the hands of Michael shitting Caine |

ok first off the acting was mediocre, normally a fan of leo but he was meh in this film - bland 'typical' hollywood acting and secondly you get stunning visuals in a large number of films these days so no big deal really - also doesnt make a film. not sure how complex it was either, thought it was pretty simple actually. was a glorified action movie |

Also very excited about the movie. It will definitely be tough to top TDK but as previously mentioned, I think Nolan has the potential to do it. And since Bay was brought up, I think he's fine as far as popcorn flick directors go. I'd say at the least bit I'm entertained by his stuff and I actually loved The Island (mainly cause of SJ) but that was a cool film and the product placement was so outrageous it made me laugh. |

There's great Transformers visuals, then there's stunning visuals like in Inception, that are ambitious, jaw-dropping and imaginative. Style and look is an important part in movies. I use the likes of Pan's Labyrinth and Spirited Away as examples.

Not her either, his most powerful enemy has always been The Joker for his constant attempt at higher and higher body counts. The constant internal struggle for Batman is his unwillingness to kill but he could have saved the largest amount of people by killing the joker long ago. |

08.01.11 | Anyone who says Inception was less than great is a complete faggot. I too have faith in Christopher Nolan. I'm not sure if this will top the first two movies but if it's at least as good I'll be satisfied. Honestly I'm more excited to see what sort of original IP he comes up with next, since those are his best works IMO (inception, Memento, The Prestige).

08.01.11 | @ Randal - I do not read comics religiously anymore however I do try to hit the major story arcs as I can and as of yet I've only ever read one with him in it. 08.03.11 | Bane is one of the most intelligent Batman villains I don't know why this is being mocked. He figured out Batman was Bruce Wayne etc and one of the characters (can't remember who - might have been ra's al ghul), said Bane's mind was the equal to the greatest he'd ever known.
As for Inception - it's not a bad movie because it's easy to get. I just have a grip with the fact that because a lot of people struggled to understand it they saw it as some work of genius. Conceptually it's great and yeah some of the visuals are stunning. It doesn't make up for the fact that it's so fucking anal. It's too structured, way too organized. The different levels of dreams are basically excuses for shitty 90's style action movies that are going on simultaneously - especially the frozen landscape with the skiing bit. The characters are boring, there's no emotional investment in any of them and the acting is bog standard and mediocre. I like Leo, I like Tom Hardy, I like Joseph Gordon-Levitt but there wasn't really anything for them to go on and it was standard Hollywood stuff. Then there's the dialogue which is mainly made up of cheesy lines and quick fire explanations - everything seems to have to be explained like a hundred times but there's no real humanity in it. Essentially the film is overblown tripe but Chris Nolan is untouchable right now it seems.
The Dark Knight is vastly overrated too, don't get me wrong I like the movie - but there are still so many lol moments that you shouldn't really be 'lol-ing' at. I seem to find with Nolan films that the actors don't really need to act - there's very rarely any real emotional value in it, and most of the acting is a backfrop to the visuals and overly contrived action sequences. |
defjaw83
08.03.11 | Man, people aren't understanding the point about inception.
It's pretty easy to follow and understand, but somebody else will have a totally different take on it.
That's the genius is that it can work on many levels, not one is right or wrong. The film in itself is an inception |
