07.27.11 | Hello Reece Hughes. |

07.27.11 | i don't have these kinds of problems
im metal as FUCK |
Trebor.
07.27.11 | It's worse when it's punk |
Trebor.
07.27.11 | Also, indie rock doesn't literally mean independent rock
Genre names are arbitrary
Indie is just a sub genre of alternative rock |
wabbit
07.27.11 | he's right you're wrong. Indie clothes would be like clothes bought/alterate at thrift stores. Same concept different medium. |

07.27.11 | display pic is relevant |
Trebor.
07.27.11 | Like rabbit said, they aren't calling their clothes indie rock, but indie as in like thrift store clothes I guess |
wabbit
07.27.11 | but like great list esp 4 |
Trebor.
07.27.11 | We call them hipsters in the states |
Trebor.
07.27.11 | Are Chavs real, or is it just a myth?
|
toxin.
07.27.11 | Yeah, people all over my school call themselves "hipsters" and then proceed to listen to Lil Wayne and Ke$ha. |
toxin.
07.27.11 | And yeah, my friend wears the same glasses, wears skinny Levi's, and wears Obey! clothing/flannels/other things that died from the mainstream a while back.
His favorite band is Linkin Park. |
IrishJay91
07.27.11 | @xtoxin the people you know sounds hideous... |
balcaen
07.27.11 | what the hell? is it the same thing as hipster? amazing what people will take seriously in order to be perceived as "original".
punks are probably worse though, but they'll admit it |
Trebor.
07.27.11 | I used to dress punk as fuck in Jr. High, but then I grew up |
toxin.
07.27.11 | @Detriment, that's basically true. It's not like they know jackshit about being a hipster anyways (they probably couldn't list one Indie band). They just do it because they think the label do it cool. I say this without any bitterness or negative connotation, but they're basically posers to the max.
Actually, a lot of them also say "It's too mainstream to ______" which is equally annoying because that dumbass group listens to Lupe, Drake, etc.
@IrishJay, I'm not sure if you mean physically or like personality-wise. I mean clothes are just clothes. One of the wannabe hipsters is pretty cute, but then like my friend who wears those glasses is not particularly attractive. The glasses do look good on him, though, because they draw attention away from his nose (like no offense).
And yeah, Obey has some cool shirts but I pretty much avoid them so people don't think I'm some sort of poser hipster (because I hate the music 95% of people listen to there), and at least to my school, that's the center of all things hipster (a bit of a contradiction but meh) |

07.27.11 | THE VISION WASN'T PERFECT AND WE KNEW IT ALL ALONG
WE DRESSED LIKE FUCKING IDIOTS AND GOT OUR FACTS ALL WRONG |
Trebor.
07.27.11 | My sister listens to hipster music, but she's not a hispter |
toxin.
07.28.11 | Haha, you know people who wear glasses with 20/20 vision (or people who have reading glasses and wear them around, again like my friend) need to be shot. I endured like three years of laughing and 7 years of ugliness (got my glasses in Kindergarten, people were mature enough to not laugh in like 3rd grade) due to glasses, and now people are wearing them without lenses? |
IrishJay91
07.28.11 | @xtoxin I meant personality-wise and I was overstating. It would be more appropriate to say they sound silly or frivolous... |
toxin.
07.28.11 | Oh, alright. Yeah, usually hideous is like physical appearance. And they're not that bad, just annoying. I think they have the smugness of not being mainstream, which is extremely ironic. |
randle
07.28.11 | i like how what other people are wearing and listening to and doing with themselves concerns you so much |
toxin.
07.28.11 | ^Yes, it's better to live in a box with no communication with the outside world. |
randle
07.28.11 | the problem is we're all too self aware and self conscious of what other people think. we're all so concerned about pleasing everyone else ..or trying to appear superior to everyone else that we're not actually doing anything for ourselves. essentially we all try and hide our own insecurities and confusion behind a mask of self assuredness and superiority over 'them' - whoever 'them' may be. really this kind of stuff is so superficial. it doesn't matter at all. it's bullshit. it's harmless. who gives a fuck? everyone apparently. but why man? it's fucking dumb. |
randle
07.28.11 | come on now don't leave me hanging cos i want to get down |
Blackbelt54
07.28.11 | Yeah punk is probably worse, but it has gotten a whole lot better recently, it seems like people at punk shows don't just wear leather jackets and have mohawks |
liledman
07.28.11 | its funny in australia, the term indie has kind of picked up all of a sudden (even though hipsters have always been around), and its used by all the bogans and jocks to describe anybody with a certain haircut, shoes and glasses. but the same haircut and shoes are worn by everybody anyway. its like when everybody bagged the shit out of 'emo' people for their skinny jeans, and everybody started wearing skinny jeans a couple of years later. |
whywontyoudie
07.28.11 | damn indie kids taking my vans authentics. |
Satellite
07.28.11 | i'm not signed to a major label so my fashion sense is indie as fuck |
YetAnotherBrick
07.28.11 | guise none of you dress nearly as post-rock as me |
tiesthatbind
07.28.11 | No, you're* not indie, you're* a wanker with a pair of vans
fix'd |

07.28.11 | "Let's all generalise people on the footwear they own. And let's use a brand that is so universally recognised as a skateboarding brand, then we'll say it's associated with people that are consider to be more "alternative" than everyone else."
this guy nailed it on the head. |
taxidermist
07.28.11 | a hipster would never admit they're a hipster [2] |
