Little List Of My Fav Albums.

A little list of my fav albums. This is a small list because listing all of the albums I love and why would take days...
1 Devin Townsend
Ocean Machine

I have been into Devin's music for around 13 years now. I remember meeting my good buddy Zach in highschool and he was blaring Ocean Machine in his car. I thought: what is that angelic sound?! haha. The record is classic Devin Townsend. From happy times to sad times, the record catches the moods so well. The odd tuning of his guitar fits so well with the slower downtempo songs like "Sister", "3 A.M." and "Voices In The Fan" to the rockin' "Seventh Wave" and the destructive "Regulator". Gosh, I love this album! So I immediately went out and bought Ocean Machine, Infinity, Physicist, SYL: "Heavy As A Really Heavy Thing", "No Sleep Til Bedtime" and "City". Since then it has been awesome being a HevyDevy fan for sure. Everything he puts out is gold in my opinion.
2Wolves In The Throne Room
Two Hunters

Well, being from Seattle I am one hour away from where these dudes are from. They reside in Lacey, Wa. and our capitol city Olympia. Around the city its very foresty and really eerie because of the fog that accumilates in the woods and around the really old, abondoned barns that dot the landscape. Not to mention the dozens of mountains and hills. Their music is what you hear when you stumble around a campfire in the fog. Atmospheric BM, very moody. "I Will Lay Down My Bones Among the Rocks and Roots" is one of my all-time favorite songs, an 18 minute miracle in my opinion.
3 Spirtual Beggars
Ad Astra

Great Swedish stoner rock. Could've been recorded in 1977 while getting high with Deep Purple but it was recorded in 2001. Michael Amott's guitar work is absolutely excellent (as always) and Spice's vocals are stoner rock personified. The jammy, instrumental parts of the record make it a must. A great record to jam out to while drinking with some great friends with some good beer. Highly recommended.
4Alcest
Ecailles de Lune

Wow! When I stumbled upon this album I was blown away. I had just bought his earlier album and I didn't know metal could be this beautiful! Niege's clean vocals are so gorgeous and his BM rasp makes me feel depressed and home sick for some reason even though Im in my own apartment listening to it (and thats a good thing!). The switch between gorgeous Shoegaze and melodic BM works so well here. The high pitched nuances he plays on his guitar, under the reverbed guitar is glorious. Beautiful. I can't wait for another album from this guy.
5Opeth
Blackwater Park

Im sure this album is on a lot of metalhead's lists because this album is awesome. Its got everything on it. From heavy DM to beautiful progressive elements that makes Opeth, well, Opeth. From the awesome, sing-along chorus of "Bleak", to the catchy, acoustic song "Harvest", and the heavy songs like "Drapery Falls". I have probably played this CD over a thousand times for sure, and counting. A masterpiece, at least for me anyway.
