here's a funny story, or at least I think it's funny.
one of the first nights of my freshman year of college, I played at an open mic night... I did one original and then a cover of Soco Amaretto Lime by Brand New. Both, I'm sure, were sub-par. But I digress. Almost 2 years later, these two girls that nobody knew ended up in my apartment late one saturday night, and I ended up befriending them because the one was talking about how much she liked Frightened Rabbit and Against Me! and I thought she was cool. Anyways, after some revelrous song-singing, cool girl left and for whatever reason left her friend behind, so I went to bed with her. As we're laying there naked, post sex, she starts laughing and goes "oh my god I just remembered where I kinda sorta knew you from... you played at that open mic thing freshman year! and I totally thought you were gay!!"
and that's the story of my first/last open mic night, along with a semi-related event that transpired two years after. |
