Veeedallen Sputversary

2 Years. Rather than listing my favorite albums or whatnot, here are twenty fantastic songs that don't get a great deal of attention here and/or need to be listened to.
1Ambulance LTD.
Ambulance LTD.

Young Urban: It's a shame Ambulance LTD were only around long enough to release one album, but this momentous emotional ride of a song is one of the greatest of the past decade.
2Bad Books
Bad Books

I Begged You Everything: Saved this album from being a complete disappointment, and is one of the better songs Andy Hull has written. "Who's really lost and who's really winning?"
3Bright Eyes
Cassadaga

I Must Belong Somewhere: Few times I've come across a song that is so full of life, like much of this album. And for that reason, it is an absolute blast to cover on my acoustic.
4Buzzcocks
Singles Going Steady

Why Can't I Touch It: Home to one of the more memorable basslines that I've come across, "Why Can't I Touch It" captures the quirk, innovation, and pop-appeal that defined the Buzzcocks.
5 Eric's Trip
Love Tara

Behind the Garage: Although a fantastic album throughout, Love Tara seems to be at its best on the acoustic tracks. "Behind the Garage" is no exception.
6Fleetwood Mac
Fleetwood Mac

I'm So Afraid: Rumours gets all the glory, but without s/t, Rumours would not have been the timeless classic that it is. The haunting closer "I'm So Afraid" could very well have been the pre-requisite to "Oh Daddy."
7 Frank Turner and Brian Fallon
A New England

8The Gaslight Anthem
American Slang

How this was left off American Slang is stunning, because it is better than anything on that album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mW2ZKNch9sI acoustic version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwYEC-wNL7s&feature=related
9 I'm From Barcelona
Let Me Introduce My Friends

As fun as anything you will ever listen to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEEQu5O00Ew
10John Frusciante
Curtains

Anne: If songs were referred to as magnum opuses like albums are, John Frusciante?s would be Anne. Whether or not John had attempted to create this track as his masterpiece is unclear, but what is clear is that the song never loses its oomph. Most amazingly, the track appears to be in utter shambles following its introduction; a broken structure, in which would not be out of place on either of Frusciante?s heroin albums, and would baffle most rock listeners. It is however, the recovery that positions Anne head and shoulders above the rest, from John?s quiver of ?Nothing is final because?? to the conclusion. The climax is staggering, for everything from Frusciante?s inconsolable lyrics to the flawlessly fitting guitar solo is incredible. Very few times in my life have I encountered such a track that time and time again, blows me away. (stolen from my review)
11Latterman
No Matter Where We Go...!

Yo, Get Into It: "We hope there is solution in these days and WE WAIT (WE WAIT!)"
12The Lawrence Arms
The Greatest Story Ever Told

The Raw and Searing Flesh: "it would be easier to die..."
13Love Axe
Phenomenomenons

This Isn't Amateur Night: One of the best songs of the year for sure.
14Manchester Orchestra
Fourteen Years of Excellence

It's Ok With Me: For one reason or another, this was left of METN, and is not a far cry from "I Can Feel A Hot One"
15Maybeshewill
Not For Want of Trying

Not For Want of Trying: "YOU'VE GOT TO GET MAD! YOU'VE GOT TO SAY, I'M HUMAN BEING GODDAMMIT! MY LIFE HAS VALUE!"
16The Menzingers
Hold on, Dodge

Kentucky Gentleman: Simple, yet anthemic as hell, Hold on Dodge's closer is an absolute gem
17The National
Cherry Tree EP

All Dolled Up in Straps: God damn this song is haunting as shit
18 Neil Young
American Stars 'N Bars

Like a Hurricane: Although this track is on arguably the weakest Neil Young album of his early era, the song features one of the greatest guitar solos of all-time.
19Old Canes
Early Morning Hymns

7th Fret Closer: Powerful, intricately written, and intensely personal, "7th Fret Closer" is a fitting conclusion to Old Canes' under-appreciated record.
20The Replacements
Tim

Here Comes a Regular: Tim may not be as memorable a record as Let it Be, but "Here Comes a Regular" may be the band greatest song.
