Some Great Moments
These are just some of my favourite 'moments' in music, not
necessarily whole verses or anything. DISCLAIMER: my taste isn't
very good. |
20 | Porcupine Tree Buying New Soul
The third and final chorus, with all of the layering and the harmonies making
it probably the most emotional moment in PT's (already fairly emotional)
catalogue. |
19 | Stevie Ray Vaughan Lenny
The first strum of that opening chord. |
18 | Louis Armstrong What A Wonderful World
The introduction is one of the most evocative I've ever heard, and sets the
mood instantly and perfectly. |
17 | Opeth Bleak
The transition into the bluesy acoustic section is amazingly done. |
16 | Sigur Ros Untitled 8
Soooo emotional, and amazing every time. |
15 | Thomas Dybdahl From Grace
The vocal melodies in the chorus. |
14 | Debussy Clair De Lune
The very ending is the most perfect finale possible to probably my favourite
classical piece. |
13 | Tool Pushit
'I must persuade you another WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY' |
12 | Miles Davis So What
When the saxophones first come in in the introduction and you remember
how fantastic the whole album ahead of you is. |
11 | Brian Eno Always Returning I
All of it. Seriously, this isn't cheating; it's repetitive. |
10 | Michael Jackson Billie Jean
The intro. It's basically perfect. |
9 | Dream Theater Octavarium
As much as I like to feel like I've 'grown out' of this band, the 'trapped
inside this Octavarium section of this is truly incredible. |
8 | Bruce Springsteen Born To Run
'ONE TWO THREE FOUR!' is one of the most badass moments in musical
history. |
7 | The Tallest Man On Earth King of Spain
'I wanna be THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...' 'nuff said. |
6 | John Mayer Slow Dancing In A Burning Room
The solo at the end of any version of this song is mindblowingly good. |
5 | Metallica Outlaw Torn
The choruses on the S&M version of this are stunning. |
4 | Sufjan Stevens Come On! Feel The Illinoise!
'I cried myself to sleep last night' is just so layered and beautifully arranged
that I practically swoon every time I hear it. |
3 | Bob Dylan Simple Twist Of Fate
'She was born in Spring, and I was born to LAAAAAAATE!' |
2 | Radiohead There There
The whole outro from the amazing 'there theeeeeeeeeeeeere!' yell
onwards is spellbinding. |
1 | Dave Matthews Band Seek Up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5S2G9VQhSI8 It doesn't get much
better than the passage starting at 2 minutes in there. My favourite section
of music ever. |
