05.12.11 | Shit I grew up listening to, per usual list is also recs. |
MO
05.12.11 | That review made me listen to Honky this morning at work. Mighty fine list. ZZ Top all the way. Those cats got style. |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | Thanks MO
Hans, JT and AoD best get in here and give me some mad props... And Sonic... it has Rush ans Styx. |
Tom93M
05.12.11 | I'm honoured : ) Good call on 'The Doors'.
|
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | Thanks Tom.
Gotta say, not a stinker among them up there. |
BigHans
05.12.11 | yeah of course mad props, 20 is the best album ever made. |
JamieTwort
05.12.11 | Great list, mad props for 15 - 23. |
BigHans
05.12.11 | These are all great except for 10 |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | Nah I like the BG's... and as for 20 its really their only album I have any love for. |
JamieTwort
05.12.11 | 20 is indeed the best. |
BigHans
05.12.11 | 21 is a gem too, has their two biggest songs as well as my fave by them (No More No More) |
JamieTwort
05.12.11 | I prefer Rocks but yeah 21 rules. |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | I have some love for all of these but I may be most partial to 25... but if I think too long i'll switch. :^) |
JamieTwort
05.12.11 | 22 rules too.
A WHOLE LOTTA WOMAN! |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | I have to say the I think Doctor My Eyes is one of the finest soft rock songs of the last few decades. |
Edwin
05.12.11 | Great list. I saw ZZ Top a few weeks ago and it was tight as. |
Edwin
05.12.11 | Although for Aerosmith it's gotta be Rocks or self-titled. |
BigHans
05.12.11 | I have to say the I think Doctor My Eyes is one of the finest soft rock songs of the last few decades.
^ Agreed |
BigHans
05.12.11 | You guys should all check out the song "the Ballad of Mott the Hoople," by of course, Mott The Hoople. |
JamieTwort
05.12.11 | "Although for Aerosmith it's gotta be Rocks or self-titled."
Self-titled is their third best album IMO behind Rocks and TitA, although Dream On is probably my favoirite Aerosmith song. |
BigHans
05.12.11 | Toys in the Attic
Rocks
Get Your Wings
S/T
After that their best album is probably Pump. |
JamieTwort
05.12.11 | I'm quite fond of Draw the Line |
BigHans
05.12.11 | Draw the Line has a few great songs but its a really messy album, Tyler admits they were so coked out at that point they werent even trying. |
acorncheese
05.12.11 | honky bach |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | I personally don't think 21 or Permanent Vacation get enough respect in general. I think they are both great albums. |
BigHans
05.12.11 | 21 is easily their best album. |
JamieTwort
05.12.11 | ^I used to think that but I find Rocks to be more consistent but it's close. |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | srsly its ALMOST like arguing over the best Beatles album. |
BigHans
05.12.11 | They are both classics but Toys in the Attic has their two most famous songs (Sweet Emotion, Walk this Way), their second greatest ballad (You See Me Crying), the heaviest song they ever did (Round and Round), a smoking title track, and three severely underrated classic rock gems (Adams Apple, Uncle Salty, and No More No M0re), the latter of which is my favorite Aerosmith song of all time. |
BigHans
05.12.11 | That and Ive probably heard Toys about 1000 times more than Rocks, haha |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | "That and Ive probably heard Toys about 1000 times more than Rocks, haha"
Me too. It's a 5 for me. |
BigHans
05.12.11 | bought it on cassette when I was 11. Lawnmowing money ftmfw |
BigHans
05.12.11 | 22 is ridiculoulsy underrated. Almost as good as Highway to Hell. |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | Dad had it in CD, I've mentioned before that he was an early adopter of the tech. Recorded it onto tape (maxell with a Fisher dual tape deck... shit was dope) to listen to while mowing lawns :^D
http://tinyurl.com/3sfvctg < ----------tape deck |
pizzamachine
05.12.11 | An omni list! |
BigHans
05.12.11 | thats a badass tape deck |
BigHans
05.12.11 | I used to listen to Whitesnake's S/T alot when mowing lawns, it was pretty awesome |
JamieTwort
05.12.11 | "22 is ridiculoulsy underrated. Almost as good as Highway to Hell."
^this |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | THAT deck has high speed dubbing sir. copy a tape to a tape in like 10min per side.
It was sexxy sexxy back in the day.
You just flipped a switch and all of a sudden your music of choice was being sang by the chipmunks. ;^) |
BigHans
05.12.11 | fuck yeah I remember that |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | Sexxy Sexxy |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | I don't remember what his CD player looked like but he only ever had 2... thats how well they used to be made.
2=20 years
Fuck our VCR was like 20 when I got rid of it. It wasn't even broken when I tossed it. It was to heavy to keep moving from apartment to apartment.
As a matter of fact here it is: http://tinyurl.com/62qn58w
I think ours was tagged as an RCA though and silver not that goldish color.
TOP LOAD BITCHES |
BigHans
05.12.11 | lol VCRs. I still have one. |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | I bought the first DVD player I could afford and never looked back man. It was a big ass Sony and it was the display model. The remote alone was big enough to club a baby seal with. There are movies that I still haven't been able to replace yet due to availability or some such shit. Fuck "Groundhogs Day" stayed above $20 for years. I refuse to re- buy a movie at above average cost no mater how much I love it. |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | I still need to get Abyss, just kinda forgot about that one. |
BigHans
05.12.11 | Dude, do you remember LASER DISCS? |
AngelofDeath
05.12.11 | 21 is the best Aerosmith album. No doubt.
Don't like a lot of these artists, but good list. |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | "Dude, do you remember LASER DISCS?"
Yah best friend had one, It was the only way you could get all the cut scenes (they would tack them on to the end of the movie) unless you got directors cut on VHS which was much rarer back then. Oh and you had to flip the mother fucking disk half way through... it was a bitch. |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | Thanks AoD, which ones do you not like? Not Junz enough for yah? |
BigHans
05.12.11 | lol my friend had one too. He thought he was so elite for having it. |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | Back in the day they made more sense than DVD players if you were on a budget. It was legacy tech so you could get players really cheap and you could get DVD quality movies for a fraction of the price. Most used CD places had a laserdisc section and you could pick stuff up for 3,4,5 bucks as opposed to $15-$20, |
BigHans
05.12.11 | Tom Petty rules |
AngelofDeath
05.12.11 | Billy Joel, CSNY, The Bee Gees, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Jackson Browne. Mad props on Traffic, though. |
BigHans
05.12.11 | Traffic was great, prefer Winwoods solo work though.
List needs some Bob Fucking Seger |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | I celebrate all of Winwood's catalog myself.
Bob Mother Fucking Seager......

05.12.11 | @ AoD
I'm really surprised at those selection. try nico's cover of "these days" from The Royal Tenanbaums
soundtrack Hands down a Jackson Browne must. Billy joel... do you at least like some of his hits?
"It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" has to be one of the catchiest songs ever. CSNY I get. Bee Gees I
get. BS I get. Tom Petty :^( I think it's a classic rock ex stoner thing :^) |
BigHans
05.12.11 | lol did u c what I did thur? |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | Quoted Robert Seager while mocking me? |
BigHans
05.12.11 | lol. I fucking love Bob Seger. |
AngelofDeath
05.12.11 | Always thought of Billy Joel as a poor man's Elton John. |
DominionMM1
05.12.11 | 24 FUCK YEAH! |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | "Always thought of Billy Joel as a poor man's Elton John."
Oh god no... Other than the piano they really aren't much alike at all. I love them both but for very different reasons. I always related Billy a little more to Paul Simon than Elton really.
"24 FUCK YEAH!"
That's my new slogan sir. |
AngelofDeath
05.12.11 | Yeah, I don't like Paul Simon a lot either, so makes sense. |
omnipanzer
05.12.11 | Well, there's that... |
