XfingTheSullen: Five Bands Often Labeled As Metalcore, Yet I Don't Know Where The "core" Is.

XfingTheSullen 05.04.11	I placed Chimaira on the last position because I realize they had been into some form of core in their early days, be it post-hardcore or metalcore. But Resurrection was pure thrash/death/groove metal to me.

I'm pretty comfortable disliking metalcore as long as the only metalcore I know is deathcore and the crap created by bands that draw inspiration from shitty alt-metal acts and blend them with hardcore influences to create "melodic metalcore" or whatever they call it. I might undo my bias when I get into Converge, Integrity etc.

XfingTheSullen 05.04.11	Well my problem is that I only was exposed to these shittiest bands. Trivium, Disturbed, Sonic Syndicate, a few deathcore acts, and that's basically all. This was too much for me to take and now metalcore has become a synonym of metal + suck for me.
XfingTheSullen 05.04.11	Every genre? I dunno. In deathcore for example. I was unable to find more than a few select songs that were so much as listenable. All the rest is pretty pointless and straight death metal does better everything that can be done.

XfingTheSullen 05.04.11	About that good deathcore band I'm sorry, but I'll take it with a grain of salt. People said Despised Icon are actually good (as in: unlike all the others), then people said Whitechapel's actually good. In the end both were no good.

DougTheRanter 05.04.11	I know that it's not strictly metalcore, but you should check out Shai Hulud - That Within Blood Ill-Tempered. It's more metal influenced hardcore and it's relatively technical, or for that matter Counterparts - Prophets, which is more metalcore. I'd also recommend More Than Life which is actually melodic hardcore, but there's a definite metal influence in there.
XfingTheSullen 11.10.11	The modern trend of "melodic metalcore" is all no good to me. Even the "best" bands like Waking-the-Fallen Avenged Sevenfold and As I Lay Dying are simply annoying to me. There is no aggression at all in this music, and those shitty straight-edge christian pretty boy clean vocals only make matters worse.
