Hey, I'm new to the site and I've been looking to get into classical
music but have no idea where to start. Literally, no idea, so I was
hoping you could help me out. I'm looking for something epic and
emotional, maybe similar to post-rock? List is examples. | | 1 | | Sigur Ros ( )
Untitled #3 | | 2 |  | Yndi Halda Enjoy Eternal Bliss
Dash and Blast. Or pretty much any of their beautiful string climaxes. The ending to
Illuminate My Heart, My Darling! is a great example too. | | 3 | | Circle Takes The Square As the Roots Undo
Non-Objective Portrait of Karma. One of my favorite songs of all time, although
from what I've gathered this band is somewhat controversial around here, haha.
Not gonna lie, I'm sort of a fanboy. | | 4 |  | Isis Oceanic
Carry | | 5 |  | The Black Dahlia Murder Miasma
Miasma (I know this is nowhere near post-rock or even post-metal, much less classical, but it
always gave off a sort of classical vibe to me, so whatever.) | |

Tchaikovsky - Symphony No. 5

Gustav Holst - The Planets Suite | foreverendeared
04.24.11 | Chopin is my favorite followed closely by Mozart and Tchaikovsky. I really enjoy listening to the piano, especially melancholic pieces, so Chopin and Beethoven are my favorites in that area. Mozart's piano is just off the charts in terms of talent and emotion so that's why I recommend him as well and Tchaikovsky will likely bring tears to your eyes. Carl Orff is really fun to listen to as well.
Oh and please, please do not leave out Henryk Mikolaj Gorecki, the finest contemporary composer in my opinion. If his symphony n. 3 doesn't bring tears to your eyes you just don't have a soul. | Bloodbirds
04.24.11 | Dvorak - Symphony No. 9;
Mahler - Symphony No. 4;
Rodrigo - Concierto de Aranjuez / Fantasia para un Gentilhombre
