football is in your face (forced comparison to the union morons in wisconsin?), can be somewhat manipulated, and has a much lower number of games played, yet many players make more than baseball players (o look, another union comparison). and tailgaiting, being a poor man's activity, etc. |

And yes baseball's far more nostalgic than football but that's also because baseball's best days (as far as relevance and national attention go) are in it's past. Football may be a "poor man's activity" but so was (and I assume still is) baseball. just go read "the glory of their times."

04.11.11 | I wasn't talking about the league unions, I was comparing their work ethic to liberals - as Bill suggested - by stating that they work considerably less than baseball players yet make, in many cases, a lot more money. Just like the unions protesting in Wisconsin. They're making more than someone who isn't in a union, yet they're bitching about trivial concessions. Just like the NFL is this year with, what, two added games to the schedule? This country is a bunch of fucking babies. |
americanmusicmachine
04.11.11 | And yes I do realize referencing a book written in 1970 about baseball players at the turn of the century proves your point. but anyway I think the overall arguement is stupid anyway I prefer baseball cuz small pudgy kids can be good at the game and not have to worry about humiliating themselves or being murdered and/or sodomized under a dog pile. |

04.11.11 | football players work every bit as hard as baseball players, a football game's far more taxing than a baseball game. plus I'm not sure but I believe baseball players make more than football players, or at least the differences b/t the salaries can be suitably explained by the money the leagues take in (like I'm pretty sure the NFL makes more than the MLB) or the differences in how many players the league requires.
Also if I were football players I'd be pretty pissy about playing more games unless my paycheck gets a % increase to the number of games extra I have to play. |

04.11.11 | See, it's hard for me to see someone as positive when they're constantly throwing sarcasm around here. It's been awhile since I've seen a purely legitimate post from you (not that I care, I rarely give a constructive comment) that wasn't in regards to recommendations. And I don't really know how one would measure "more good than most", but I'll assume charity, donations, a lookout for the members of the surrounding community, etc. In regards to the documentary, there's a reason those subjected to the "teachings" are kids; most of them will outgrow and move beyond the weightless lessons of their youth. |
Narshh
04.11.11 | @defeater christian fundementalists anger me at times because of their inability to, not even accept, but just consider anyone else's opinions or views. Their main goal is to preach what they believe is the absolute truth and have others conform or pay heed to their viewpoints, and they don't even have the decency to do the same in return. It's a type of irony/hypocrisy that really pisses me off. But beyond that, im supposed to be Hindu, and I practice Hinduism, but I don't think I believe in it. The reason I bring that up is because my main problem is sort of with religion of all sorts; but Im not a devout atheist (pun intended lol) but more agnostic than anything else. But if one religion has to be real....it would be Hinduism because it's stories predate any of that of Christianity, Judaism, etc...man walking on water, birth to a virgin etc..so yea im angry at Christian fundamentalists because they should be bowing down to Hinduism...fuckin a |

04.11.11 | Even if their stories predate that of Christianity, they're still just stories.
Seeing batshit crazy fundamentalists doesn't bother me so much as watching them enforce their views on children. That shit can really fuck you up. Frank Zappa said it best; the success to raising a good family is keeping kids far away from religion. They're too young to have to be worrying about what happens to them after they die. Choosing a religion should be a personal experience that takes time to develop. If I had kids I wouldn't enforce any one view point, but let them be aware of what concepts are out there and let them chose their own course. |
Narshh
04.11.11 | Yeah I agree completely, and the point of stating that the stories predate that of Christianity was to show how dumb it is for one religion to claim to be correct when their origins stem directly from another that has been around for a greater period of time. In the end, as of now, these are all still stories tho |
