04.09.11 | Cool painter, Dali. I'm just not all that much of a fan of his style, a little too overstated or something for me. |

04.09.11 | yeah Dali is one of my favorites. I kind of dabbled in the history in surrealism back then and got many books.
Rene Magritte was another great artist in surrealism that I enjoyed. |

04.09.11 | I really like Andrew Wyeth's stuff. 'specially this one: http://www.seattlemet.com/assets/0001/7886/SAM-Wyeth-BlackVelvet.jpg?1245889726
Francis Bacon's stuff is real cool and creeps me the fuck out.
Amedeo Modigliani is also another guy I like a whole lot.
Rene Magritte is another guy who does some awesome stuff plus he's got one painting called "Lovers" (http://www.art-for-a-change.com/blog/images/july05/magrit.jpg) that I've seen directly referenced to in the horror movie "Cemetery Man," and episode of "Party Down," and on the cover of that one funeral for a friend album.
anyway those are all probably real obvious but i dnt know much about painting. |

04.09.11 | I'm doing an extended essay on how the use of psychedelic drugs effects the surrealist process, and whether the image that is being painted is augmented by the drugs, or if it is a different vision that is produced by the drugs themselves.
You should check out Alex Grey. He did the artwork for Tool's Lateralus and 10,000 Days. |
