The Smiths Ranked

Possibly new favorite band.
7The Smiths
Meat is Murder

The only Smiths album I don't really love. Oddly enough, contains a top-10
or possibly top-5 Smiths song, "How Soon Is Now?". The rest of the album,
though, just seems to be lacking in wow-factor and variety. Besides the
previously mentioned "How Soon Is Now?", "That Joke Isn't Funny
Anymore" and "Nowhere Fast" are the best tracks here.
6The Smiths
Strangeways, Here We Come

Not a bad album, just not as good as the ones above it on the list. "Rush
and a Push and the Land Is Ours" and "Death of a Disco Dancer" are great.
5The Smiths
Louder Than Bombs

Only other Smiths compilation beside 'Hatful of Hollow' worth owning. Contains several essential Smiths
songs not released on the 4 studio albums ("Panic", "Shoplifters of the
World Unite", "Rubber Ring", "Asleep"). Drags on a bit, however.
4The Smiths
Hatful of Hollow

Best of the many Smiths compilations, this contains almost all of the pre-TQID classic Smiths songs. "What
Difference Does It Make?", "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now", and many of the best songs from 'The
Smiths'. The inclusion of "How Soon is Now?" almost makes 'Meat is Murder' unnecessary.
3The Smiths
Rank

60% of the songs from TQID + 8 other great Smiths tracks + live, raw
power + 8 minute version of "I Know It's Over"? Yes please.
2The Smiths
The Smiths

Most emotional album, contains lots of gems. "Pretty Girls Make Graves",
"The Hand That Rocks the Cradle", "Hand in Glove" stand out among other
classics.
1The Smiths
The Queen is Dead

Most cohesive album. Amazing from start to finish. "Cemetry Gates", "There
Is a Light That Never Goes Out", "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others", "I
Know It's Over" are top songs but really the whole thing is brilliant.
