Albums From My Childhood

This is a collection of albums I would listen to before I was able to pick for myself. These are all either from my father's collection or what my grade school teachers would play during class. Lots of compilation albums and almost entirely dad rock.
1Twisted Sister
Stay Hungry

I would rock out to this on cassette regularly at age four. I believe this is one reason why I enjoy metal so much to this day.
2 Gordon Lightfoot
Gord's Gold

My 2nd grade teacher would play this for us when we were doing in class activities. The first time I heard "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is still a clear memory for me.
3 Credence Clearwater Revival
Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits

Ever since I saw Forrest Gump and heard "Fortunate Son", CCR was a mainstay in my music listening habits.
4 The Beatles
1967?1970

A masterful compilation of their hits. One of these tracks was the first time I experienced the difference between hearing a track through speakers and headphones.
5 Blue Oyster Cult
Career of Evil: The Metal Years

I remember my dad reciting the chorus from "Godzilla". The live version on this album is magnificent.
6Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin IV

Need I do more than simply state this album?
7The Who
The Kids Are Alright

Such a collection of classics with some great live tracks (a few being from Woodstock).
8Pink Floyd
The Wall

Although I did not truly appreciate this work of art until my high school years, listening to it earlier on yields some significance, I think.
9Chicago
Chicago Transit Authority

One of my father's favorite bands growing up. I'm sure he got into them because his father was born and raised in Chicago.
10Steely Dan
Pretzel Logic

The beginning of an obsession with such a legendary band for me.
