| 12 Bands That Have An Inspired Me As A Musician
I'm probably entering dangerous territory here because some of you may not think highly of the musicians in this band, but that's okay. Because I don't care about you :P | | 1 | Death
This band is pretty much the reason I decided to even pick up an instrument. I have loved EVERY single album they ever put out. Even stuff by Control Denied is good, but Death, specifically the string of awesome bassits, have influenced me. | | 2 | Napalm Death
From Scum to Enemy of the Music Business right down to their latest, Time Waits For No Slave, I have loved this band. | | 3 | Overmars
Probably one of the greatest Doom outfits ever brought together. I've heard nearly everything by them, though some of it is out of print. | | 4 | The Dead Boys
Lesser known punk rock quintet from the 70's They only had two albums, but influenced me greatly. Young, Loud, and Snotty is definitely an album that defines the Punk genre. | | 5 | The Ramones
Greatest punk rock band ever. Dee Dee Ramone is also one of the best punk bassists ever. Too bad he kicked the bucket. | | 6 | Venom
Yes. The album is Black Metal. WAIT! NO! Don't leave just yet! Temples of Ice, At War With Satan, and their latest, Hell are pretty damn exceptional. | | 7 | Watchtower
Thrash-Progressive band has definitely played a role in modern progressive metal. They even influenced Death. But they have some seriously killer bass lines in almost every song of Energetic Disassembly | | 8 | In The Woods
Everything they did is out of print, sadly. I'm the proud owner of Heart of the Ages, though. Kickass black metal, folk metal, and prog-metal. | | 9 | 7 Seconds
Hardcore Punk band from early 80's that lasted throughout the 80's and I think most of the 90's and into the 2000's. First two albums I picked up were Walk Together, Rock Together and The Crew. | | 10 | Discharge
If I put up Napalm, you know I cannot forget the Discharge. One of the most epic hardcore/punk bands that ever was. Why? and Hear Nothing, along with their newest self titled was awesome. | | 11 | Screeching Weasel
Yea Yea...I know. These guys don't exactly measure up to the rest, but their shit is catchy and funny. When Dan Vapid was around in the earlier albums, his bass skills effing ruled. No doubts. | | 12 | Cro-Mags
Awesome crossover hardcore band. Age of Quarrel and Revenge. "Street Justice" is just one of those timeless hardcore tunes. | |

One extra band I'd add for me is At The Drive-In. | pillowswantyoursoul
