| Track 2
Either picking up where Track 1 leaves off or setting off in a new
direction, Track 2 is the beginning of the bulk of the album. | | 1 | | The Beatles
Abbey Road
Something
A George Harrison composition that is every bit as good as 'Here Comes the
Sun' and 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'

gorgeous guitar) | | 2 | | Beck
The Information
Think I'm in Love
Underappreciated and virtually unknown this is classic Beck singing a
gorgeous and relatable toon.

Untrue
Archangel
User silentpotato turned me onto this album and Archangel is an instant
standout. This is what dubstep is supposed to sound like.

Discovery
Aerodynamic
A perfect follow up to 'One More Time,' this just has that powerful electro
guitar solo that's both powerful and contagious

like I'm 7 again) | | 5 | | DJ Shadow
Endtroducing
Building Steam With A Grain Of Salt
The first full track on Shadow's first album. Hip-hop or not, this is a track
that everyone needs to hear at some point.

Origin of Symmetry
Bliss
The title says it all as this song is just pure bliss.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMqsWc8muj8 (video - Matt Bellamy at
his best) | | 7 | | The Mars Volta
De-Loused in the Comatorium
Intertiatic ESP
'Now I'm lost' => I normally shy away from such hard rock, but this is just
too freaking good. Omar Rodriguez Lopez is one of the greatest guitarists
of our generation.

Frances the Mute
The Widow
The closest thing to a 'pop' song the Mars Volta has ever come. Ced Bixler-
Zavala's vocals are amazing.

Illmatic
New York State of Mind
You don't have to be that big into hip-hop to appreciate this gem. 'I never
sleep cause sleep is the cousin of death' => Nas has got flow and genius
galore, both extremely evident in this track

Animals
Dogs
Arguably Pink Floyd' most epic song ... ever. If you've got 17 minutes and
even remotely like this style of music, this is a must.

Automatic for the People
Try Not to Breathe
Seriously one of the best R.E.M. songs of all time. And almost no one
seems to know it.
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yK05yNR0BCs is the live version, but i'd
highly recommend grooveshark.com to listen to the album version or
buying/downloading this whole album) | | 12 | | Radiohead
Amnesiac
Pyramid Song
Even if you don't like these guys -- you need to hear this track. Beautiful
piano chords set the pace here.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik
If you Have to Ask
Kiedis used to be a rapper -- and he was damn good.

10,000 Days
Jambi
Can't beat that guitar line. Awesome, awesome track.

03.15.11 | Hmm -- still can't get those enters to work in the description. Anyways, I made both these lists when
I was on a plane recently and wanted to share and elaborate with you all. Track recs are recommended,
esp those that aren't metal, but then again if you swear by 1 track that is metal, then feel free to
share one. I'll probably have a list of my favorite closing tracks pretty soon, but then I'll be done
with this kind of list. Hope you guys give any / all of these a listen if you don't know them | Deathcar
03.16.11 | Do you just want track 2's that rule?
Clutch - Profits of Doom
Raekwon - Every Soldier in the Hood
RX Bandits - ...and the Battle Begun
Brand New - Millstone
Just some random ones that rule. | MO
03.16.11 | I find Jambi to be one of the weaker songs off 10,000 Days.
Opeth - April Ethereal. | Spec
03.16.11 | You're very wrong. | aok
03.16.11 | Jambi's amazing.
Also, i guess i mostly am just saying here's some stuff I like, and you should listen or bounce me ideas. These just happen to be my favorite 2nd tracks on albums | ssttaannzzii
03.16.11 | 2
| kris.
03.16.11 | how is 7 hard rock at all | sniper
03.16.11 | some of these i would consider the first song on their albums, even if they are the second track. especially for Untrue and Deloused, the first tracks are just introductions to the first real track. I also think as you become more familiar with Untrue, you will find Archangel to be less an less of a standout. just my thoughts. | ssttaannzzii
03.16.11 | slappy pappy way waaaaay! | aok
03.16.11 | uhhkris => it's just more in your face and loud than most of what i listen to
sniper01 => fair points. i know actually the rest of the albums on here much better than i know burial but i've been digging it and saw archangel as an early track. same could 100% be said for 'building steam' with shadow and 'dogs' on pink floyd but i went straight up technically second track. cheers and if you happen to know anything that's like / as good as untrue please gimme a shout. | Chrisjon89
03.16.11 | 1, 7 and 12 rule. I agree that 'Something' is a great great song and Pyramid Song is one of my all time favourites. | aok
03.16.11 | i couldn't agree more | luschlotz
03.16.11 | "Something, "Dogs, "Pyramid song, wow, what a great list | aok
03.19.11 | oh god dang -- Cornish Acid (Off Aphex Twin album 'Richard D James') and Manic Depression (Off Jimi
Hendrix album 'Are you Experienced') were supposed to be on here. | Psychopathologist
