Top 20 Of 10
These are not the best albums I listened to this year but... |
| 20 | | Gonjasufi A Sufi and a Killer
Simultaneously being amusing and entertaining the backing tracks are
undeniable. Thanks to silentpotato for this rec. |
| 19 | | The Futureheads The Chaos
A generic label I'll use a lot in this list... fun, upbeat and entertaining. |
| 18 | | Spoon Transference
I'm surprised this hasn't made it onto more 2010 lists although it did come
out all the way back in January. |
| 17 | | Kanye West My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
I really can't stop myself from saying... this just isn't as good as you think it
is. It is however good enough to be highlighted for the year. I 3'd the
fucker but I can admit that it is a damn good album and simply not to my
liking. |
| 16 | | Deftones Diamond Eyes
I'm an old school Deftones fan so there was no way this wasn't making my
list. |
| 15 | | The Drums The Drums
Here we go again... fun, upbeat and entertaining. That being said I should
probably have put it at 18. |
| 14 | | Matt and Kim Sidewalks
Fun, upbeat and entertaining: this album is infectiously upbeat as we have
come to expect from this couple. |
| 13 | | Nine Inch Nails Pretty Hate Machine: 2010 Remaster
My favorite surprise of 2010. |
| 12 | | Toro Y Moi Causers of This
Smooth and mellow just pop it in and chill with your substance of choice. |
| 11 | | mc chris mc chris Goes to Hell
With three songs named after Star Wars bounty hunters on this album
alone he is my favorite Nerd-Core artist and this is by far his cleanest album
with the best production level. |
| 10 | | The Gaslight Anthem American Slang
Not as good as "59 Sound" still far better than most the releases this year. |
| 9 | | Ray Lamontagne God Willin' & The Creek Don't Rise
Yet another lack luster album from someone who has given us better. It is
however a good album in its own right and the first album he has produced
alone. |
| 8 | | Vampire Weekend Contra
It's a great album that is upbeat and I'm not sure were all the hate comes
from. The one complaint I might have is that it is more of the same. |
| 7 | | Weezer Death to False Metal
Completely out of left field I never would have known of its existence if it
wasn't for CasualListen's review. It's filled with music they should have
been releasing over the last few years. |
| 6 | | Big Boi Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty
Great album: nuff said. |
| 5 | | Sage Francis Li(f)e
If BigHans hadn't been so disappointed in it I never would have known it
had come out. It has the best production value of his catalog but it is classic
Sage flow. |
| 4 | | Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse Dark Night of the Soul
Great album with a great story. Before the legal dispute was resolved you
could order the Booklet and it would come with a blank CD. The package
would be labeled "For legal Reasons, enclosed CD-R contains no music. Use
it as you will.". Ready for release in 2009 but the official date is July 12,
2010. |
| 3 | | Broken Bells Broken Bells
Danger Mouse and James Mercer need I say more? |
| 2 | | The Black Keys Brothers
I'm a long time Black Keys fan. Brothers is not there best album but it is a
great album. |
| 1 | | Tricky Mixed Race
After listening to this album I knew it would be my number one for the year. |
