Jash's 2010: The Money Shot
Okay so i stuipedly made a 2010 list about a month ago and then
stumbled across a more awesome albums, but now ive finalized my
list. So here's my top 25 of 2010, and may everyone have a great
Festivus, for the rest of us! |
| 25 | | Gold Panda Lucky Shiner
really really cool uh-tsss uh-tsss |
| 24 | | The National High Violet
Put another gold star beside The Nationals name on the chalkboard |
| 23 | | The Dillinger Escape Plan Option Paralysis
Yeah, seeing Farewell, Mona Lisa live was pretty much sheer chaos |
| 22 | | The Tallest Man On Earth The Wild Hunt
Everytime i listen to this record i feel like i know him personally because the
songs he writes are just so emotional filled and raw. |
| 21 | | Toro Y Moi Causers Of This
This was my summer album for the year |
| 20 | | More Than Life Love Let Me Go
Another group of heartbroken guy's making an awesome hardcore album
about their lack of pussy... |
| 19 | | Girls Broken Dreams Club
Girls were the soundtrack to my summer last year. With the release of
Broken Dreams Club they have put out another amazing release in their
young career. Owen?s songwriting has only gotten better since the debut,
and Chet White?s production on this record is some of the best ive ever
heard, every little detail tweaked to perfection |
| 18 | | Women Public Strain
Just like Loveless, the music fits the album cover soooooo well |
| 17 | | Flying Lotus Cosmogramma
Steven Ellison is greatest instrumental hip-hop artist since J-Dilla. The beats
are crazy, complex and cool while the atmosphere?s he explores are out of
this world. |
| 16 | | Punch Push Pull
This band just fucking rips!!! Fast riffs, spastic drums, AND a female
vocalist?!?!?!? The band is so tight and in the short song lengths (2:41 is
the longest on the album) they never lose your attention. Her scream is
amazing and her delivery is perfect. From the first feedback squeal to the
last chord, Punch hold your face to the speaker and crank it to 11 for 17
minutes of balls out (one could even say ball-less) hardcore |
| 15 | | Little Women Throat
I can't even explain this album. They're like the Converge of jazz... Jazzcore??? |
| 14 | | Mountain Man Made The Harbor
Every time I listen to Made The Harbor I get taken to a cabin out in the
woods, the same place The Glow Pt 2 takes you to. Except this time its not
a heartbroken guy, but instead three girls from Vermont with some of the
best voices you will ever hear. The stories and emotions shared through
these songs are very personal and you cannot help but being taken away
to that cabin in the woods |
| 13 | | Warpaint The Fool
This is such a moving moody album, the girls in the band recommend
blazing before listening to their music and i definatly agree. PS omggggg
the dummer and one of the guitarist/singer's are soooooooo hawt |
| 12 | | Jonsi Go
Jonsi is the fuckin man. His happiest songs to date, Jonsi proves that
anything he touches turns to the warmest, most comfortable hand knitted
Icelandic sweater. Seeing him life on the tour for this was beyond amazing
as well. Brandon aka YouAreMySilence (R.I.P.) put it best "The gayest album
ever made." |
| 11 | | The Saddest Landscape You Will Not Survive
One of the most raw emo bands out there, The Saddest Landscape are
masters of writing pure, emotion filled songs. You Will Not Survive is filled
with chaotic music and those very distinct vocals from Andy Maddox as The
Saddest Landscape do what they do best, play amazing emo songs. |
| 10 | | Max Richter Infra
One of the most beautiful records i've ever heard, thats that. |
| 9 | | High Places High Places vs. Mankind
I love this band so much and this went completely under the radar all year.
Super trippy indie pop that kind of reminds me of Warpaint. This album
needs moar attention!!! |
| 8 | | Joanna Newsom Have One On Me
So Sexy |
| 7 | | Rosetta A Determinism Of Morality
Heavy as hell, epic as tits, and beautiful as? dare I say it again, tits. |
| 6 | | Sufjan Stevens All Delighted People EP
I heard this after falling in love with The Age Of Adz, but All Delighted
People is just more proof of how insanely talented Sufjan Stevens really is.
His amazing vocals entice you throughout and his musical arrangements go
from haunting dark songs to playful folk tunes. This was just a glimpse at
what he would achieve with The Age Of Adz, but what a beautiful glimpse
he gave us |
| 5 | | James Blake Klavierwerke EP
With Klavierwerke James Blake has taken another huge step forward as an
artist and influence to the genre. He has also shown some consistency with
two very good releases this year. It?s scary to think how good he might be
in the years to come with the progress he?s made in such short time. The
sun is peaking through the clouds over London and the future is looking
very promising for not only James Blake, but the entire dubstep scene.
That was the last paragraph in my review for this EP, now after hearing his
full length already, i can say that it is scary how good James Blake is |
| 4 | | Kerouac Cold and Distant, Not Loving
This was one of the biggest surprises for me this year. Having just started
getting into hardcore i didnt imagine an album hitting me so hard but
Kerouac did just that. 17 minutes is all it takes and these guys have me
convinced this is the best hardcore album of the year. |
| 3 | | Sed Non Satiata Sed Non Satiata
There's nothing out of the norm on this record, a good vocalist (both at
screaming and singing), drumming that keeps the steady drive of the songs
and emo guitar chord structures with an added post-rock twist. Yes it's all
been done before but for some reason this is so much better. They've
grown from their first album and have created a perfect record as beautiful
as it is emotional. This album makes me want to move to France and start a
skramz band, who's with me? |
| 2 | | Kanye West My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
I think Kanye West is a goof, most people I know do as well. When I heard
that Justin Vernon was going to be on some of the new Kanye tracks I was
intrigued and as soon as "Monster" was released I was listening to it, and
it fuckin rocked. I?ve never liked any of Kanye?s music, but My Beautiful Dark
Twisted Fantasy is a masterpiece. Maybe the most egotistical albums ever
made, yet you?re not pissed at him you?re singing along with him promoting
drinking and driving. Every song is perfect, and the album never drags. It
deserves the 10 that Pitchfork gave it. "Can we get much higher??? So
high!!!" |
| 1 | | Sufjan Stevens The Age of Adz
At the end of my first listen of The Age Of Adz I turned to Aids and said
"that's the album of the year right there", well it seems like I stuck to my
words. Sufjan Stevens has made a landmark album in my music world and
this album will stick with me for a long time to come. |
