DoubtGin
12.19.10 | Neurosis: "Through Silver in Blood" is regarded as their best album; I'd either start with that one or "The Eye of Every Storm", but everything from "Souls at Zero" on is worth getting
Agalloch: not a favourite of mine but I'd start with either "The Mantle" or "Ashes Against the Grain"
Sigur Ros isnt post-metal btw |
ffs
12.19.10 | "+ some other stuff"
this list makes me think about beards |

12.19.10 | what Doubt Gin said with Neurosis
also Cult of Luna - Salvation
love Agalloch's 1st 3 albums equally, only just got their latest |
Butkuiss
12.19.10 | Get Through Silver in Blood, or Times of Grace for Neurosis. Also delve into Cult of Luna and Rosetta! And as for Agalloch, start with Ashes or THe Mantle. |
fouxdufafa
12.19.10 | Thanks very much for the suggestions but if it had to be one Agalloch album, which one? I have a limited budget right now |
Josh D.
12.19.10 | I wouldn't start with Neurosis. |
kangaroopoo
12.19.10 | The Mantle
The Eye of Every Storm |
InFiction
12.19.10 | I haven't actually heard any Neurosis either but as for Agalloch, go for 'Ashes Against The Grain'. It's the album that got me into them and also one of my favourite albums ever. |
Motiv3
12.19.10 | Agalloch: Pale Folklore or the Mantle NOW.
Neurosis: I started with Through Silver in Blood, i havent really listened to that much Neurosis but id say give that album a shot, beware it is a grower, at least it was for me. |
NeroCorleone80
12.19.10 | Anything from Souls At Zero onwards really. Their first two albums aren't that great. Agalloch is
obviously Pale Folklore or The Mantle, either one will do. |
Pyosisified
12.19.10 | just dont start with TSIB
list is good but needs less isis
|
bodiesinflight57
12.19.10 | Agalloch are a bit overrated. For Neurosis I'd say start with "Given to the Rising", their newest record, and work backwards. I started with "Through Silver In Blood" but it took me listening to two more of their records before I actually got into the band so I wouldn't recommend that as a starting point. They are an amazing band though so totally worth the perseverance. |
GhettoIndieshit
12.19.10 | we're officially bestest friends since you have 1, 3, and 10 on this list. As for Agalloch, The Mantle has lots and lots of acoustic parts and is super long, Ashes Against The Great is mostly electric guitar with lots of post rock influence. Ashes is my favorite by them and it's probably their most accessible |
climactic
12.19.10 | mantle |

12.19.10 | I started with Time of Grace. Worked good |
luci
12.19.10 | You should start by listening to a better band. |

12.19.10 | For Agalloch, just start at the beginning and work your way up. |

12.20.10 | Where should one go after Panopticon?
assuming you have Oceanic and Celestial you should probably just stop with Isis for awhile |
JaymzHetfield
12.20.10 | Or just delete them from your hard drive. |
Relinquished
12.20.10 | no just keep going |
Inveigh
12.20.10 | Isis' other albums are good I'm just assuming there's better post-metal you should check out first |
Josh D.

12.20.10 | I don't like a lot of traditional post metal though. That is to say that the main albums that are so revered aren't enjoyable for me. |
