Urine's Top 10 Hip-hop Albums Of 2010

My top 10 Hip-Hop Albums of 2010. list was made with love
10Gorillaz
Plastic Beach

Yes i consider this a hip-hop album. Even with a few non hip-hop features, this is still an excellent album. A diverse range of sounds meet together under a coat of retro, 80's-pop sounds. Damon Albarn has excellent vocals here and Some of the guest features are excelent, ranging from one of Snoop's best verses in years to Mos Def's chill liadback vibe to the outright Grime weirdness coming from Bashy and Kano. An excellent album that should've been popular all year instead of for the short time it had
9The Roots
How I Got Over

Excellent, funky, jammy, decent rapping as well, etc., etc.. This album is just too damn good
8Dark Time Sunshine
Vessel

This took fucking indie-rap and turned it inside out. Nice, hip-hop beats with roots in rock and soul as well as electronica and excellent rapping typical of the indie-rap genre. A masterpiece of its itme.
7Yelawolf
Trunk Muzik (mixtape)

Definitely my favorite new rapper. He has the most unique flow i can think of coming out of the south right now and he appeals to fans of lyricism while keeping a slick, well-produced sound that appeaks to the mainstream kids. Yela takes his Alabamian, White-trash stereotypes and redirects them back in the face of potential critics, taking his flows and turing them into a craft of epic proportions. Pretty damn good for a mix tape
6KiD CuDi
Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager

I admit, i didn't enjoy the first Man on the Moon. I thought Cudi was a talentless hack. Then i realized his music wasn't made to appeal to fans of rapping, hell it's just Hip-Hop for stoners. It's the perfect soundtrack to getting stoned with psychedelic sounds and really slow tempos coming out of Cudi. This is the perfect soundtrack for getting high and thats why it makes this list.
5Mellowhype
BLACKENEDWHITE

And now for the 1-2 Odd Future punch, Mellowhype really put out an excellent release this year. Left Brain is pretty innovative with his beats, making wonky, spacy, out of this world sounds. Hodgy compliments them perfectly with a nice Wiz Khalifa-esque sound and of course, great lyrics. A truly exceptional Release
4Earl Sweatshirt
EARL

You all saw this Coming. Odd Future really are the best new rap to come out since the Wu-Tang Clan. Despite the claims of not being horrorcore, EARL is pretty much horrorcore at its nastiest. Drawing inspiration from The Slim Shady Lp he puts nasty, violent lyrics on top o fuzzy, wonked out, Neptunes-on-acid-esque beats. Earl definitely has a future for being a 16 year old who can rap so well
3Big Boi
Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty

Album was close to being album of the year until Kanye West came. Big Boi revitalized himself as a performer and showed that he could be just as interesting a member of Outkast as Andre 3000 was. Southern Beats ride fast flows and good-time lyrics
2Celph Titled and Buckwild
Nineteen Ninety Now

Celph and Buck brought a brand new concept to Hip-Hop music, using old-school beats from 94-95 and lacing new raps over them. Buckwild brought back Jazzy horn squeals and haunting basslines and put them under brand new raps. Celph holds up his part as well with masterful punchlines and his most relaxed flow in well, ever.
1Kanye West
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Kanye West got really Eccentric and decided to defy the boundaries of Hip-Hop with a cast of eclectic guests and other unique Features. From King Crimson-sampling to doing tracks with Bon Iver and Gil-Scott Heron, Kanye crafted a masterpiece. Here's to his next album with Jay-z
