12.05.10 | Get some Sennheiser's yo |
Josh D.
12.05.10 | I have HD 202's. Sound alright; I want the noise cancelling ones they have, I think they are PCX450's or something? The MSRP is $449 though. Amazon has them at about $289 right now. Hesitant to get them though because I'd rather finance, but I don't think I could get anyone to get them for me. |

12.05.10 | i used to have some noise canceling ones. Sound fucking amazing but i go through headphones like crazy so i just buy shit ones because they're cheap |

12.05.10 | If anyone knows about those Senn's, let me know. I've been researching headphones a ton, but it turns out that a lot of the really good audiophile ones either don't have NC, leak a lot of noise, or aren't meant for iPods and stuff so the sound is compromised. |

12.05.10 | Sennheiser 555 HDs.
Josh, they are the best headphones I have ever had, and you honestly won't regret buying them. They are probably a little less than $100 and sound great. Although they may be a tad flimsy with plastic construction, and aren't noise canceling, they still sound great and will last me a long time. |

12.05.10 | I have had those in mind since the beginning of my research. Here is what I need:
Superb sound
Long-time comfort
Durability
As little sound leakage as possible (little sound coming in as well)
NC is optional really (I stopped using NC while drumming long ago)
So really, since the sound is supposed to be great, are they comfortable for long and do they leak a lot of sound at high volumes? |

12.05.10 | the 555s arent flimsy, they're plastic but i think its so that they can be more lightweight since they're kind of bulky already, but ive stood on, sat on, dropped, and crushed these babies and they're fine. I've given some thought to closed-ear or noise-cancelling headphones from senn but i think if i got a new pair id go with the 595s just because of how much ive enjoyed the 555s. |

12.05.10 | josh theyre open-ear, so they leak sound like a motherfucker. if you dont want sound leakage you need to get something else, but for superb sound long-time comfort and durability nothing will beat them for the value. |
Josh D.
12.05.10 | That's a deal breaker for me though. I don't want a lot of leakage.
I mean, I mostly use headphones in my house(mostly my room tbh), so leakage isn't a big deal. But for drumming, I can't have too much sound coming in.
If you know any good ones that will suit all of these needs, let me know. I have researching everyday for about a week and every time one seems promising, I find out about one of the things that will rule them out. |

12.05.10 | yeah i figured it would be. Honestly, I've never heard of anyone who was disappointed with sennheisers, I think they're probably the most consistent brand for personal use headphones, and im a little biased because i fucking love mine so i would definitely go with them if it was me. The noise cancelling ones you're talking about are probably great, the only thing is once you're up in that price range the difference in sound quality is only noticeable if you're a fucking sound wizard. Which maybe you are, or maybe enough of that price is from build quality that its necessary. I probably wouldn't spend that much but it depends on every individual. You should try to find a retailer where you can listen first though. It's like buying a TV online, specs and opinions will never tell you enough as actually seeing the picture. |

12.05.10 | The first ones I had were cx150's, they were okay but nothing special. The cx 170s and 180s are pretty good if you want to keep the price under fifty bucks. If you don't have bills and school and shit, go ahead and get what you like. |
Josh D.
12.05.10 | Yeah, I definitely don't want to/can't really spend 450 on headphones. Now, if I can get them for that 289 price or whatever, especially on 6 month financing, that would be nice. Although, once you default on one payment, they add in interest that was been accruing sine the date of purchase, and the interest is high, of course.
I don't know what to get really. |
