Appreciate These Classic Artists

While I will say Sputnik is wise enough to worship great classic acts like Zeppelin, Beatles, Cash, and Rush, too many of these completely obvious artists fly under the radar here. Seriously, if you don't own something from half of these you are in dire need of a proper education. Artists not ranked.
1Creedence Clearwater Revival
Green River

Instead of talking about shitty MCR, Escape the Fate, or whatever faggot quasi hardcore/scene/post hardcore/emo/MCR fags/metalcore band is coming out with a new album, we should be talking about one of the top 10 greatest bands in history. Top 3 songs: Impossible since they have like 50 great ones, but most people probably haven't heard "Wrote A Song For Everyone," which is a shame.
2Frank Sinatra
Sinatra Reprise-The Very Good Years

My latest review sums it up, but if you don't like Frank, you don't have a clue what real singing is.
3Van Morrison
Astral Weeks

Congratulations if you're one of the morons who dances to Brown Eyed Girl at weddings and think thats his best song. One of the best songwriters ever, period. Top 3 songs: Sweet Thing, And It Stoned Me, Into the Mystic.
4Neil Diamond
The Essential Neil Diamond

I dont know how anyone could not possible love Neil Fucking Diamond. Great singer, great songwriter. Like OFace said he has alot more to offer than the song that fat, sweaty bridesmaids scream at weddings or Red Sox Games. Fuck Sweet Caroline. Top 3 songs: Girl youll be a Woman Soon, Forever in Blue Jeans, Cracklin Rosie.
5Ray Charles
The Great Ray Charles

If you don't have to have superior intellect to appreciate "The Genius," but you're a straight up moron if you don't. Top 3 songs: What'd I Say, Georgia, Hit the Road Jack
6Otis Redding
The Dock of the Bay

An abosultely stunning voice. God has a magic wand and occasionally taps a few people with a superior talent boomstick. Otis was one of them. Top 3 songs: Sittin on the Dock of the Bay, Tenderness, These Arms of Mine.
7Willie Nelson
Red Headed Stranger

Willie sometimes takes a backseat to Cash, and who wouldn't, but that doesn't mean he didn't come up with some epic shit. One of the "gentler" outlaw country dudes. Album listed rules, and top 3 songs: Poncho & Lefty, My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys, Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.
8Bob Seger
Night Moves

If you didn't realize it, Bob Seger has like 40 straight up classic songs. A great artist who can rock out with the best of them but had an uncanny knack for awesome melody/ballads. Top 3 songs: Night Moves, Roll Me Away, Hollywood Nights
9Elvis Presley
Elvis: 30 #1 Hits

Like the Drive By Truckers said: Damn it Elvis doesnt know, he aint no Johnny Cash. While that may be true, The King was one of the most prolific and influential artists in history. Forget about his joke-like later years. Get the classic shit. Top 3 songs: A Little Less Conversation, Suspiscious Minds, Heartbreak Hotel
10Billy Joel
The Stranger

Often gets overshadowed by Elton John, but Billy is just as good, if not better. Top 3 songs: Piano Man, She's Always A Woman, Only The Good Die Young
11Boston
Boston

Yeah you've probably heard More Than A Feeling, but Boston has at least 20 party anthems that should be appreciated to the fullest extent. Top 3 songs: More Than A Feeling, Feelin Satisfied, Foreplay/Longtime
12Supertramp
Breakfast in America

proggers that are actually better than most prog bands people fap over. Well, at least they deserve to be mentioned with them. You would be surprised at how many classic songs they actualy sang. Top 3 Songs: Goodbye Stranger, Long Way Home, Bloody Well Right
13Simon and Garfunkel
Greatest Hits

Ok I dont think they actually get any hate but not enough people here talk about them not named me, Nag, or Alchalol. Masterful pop duo. Top 3 songs: Sound of Silence, Bridge Over Troubled Water, The Boxer.
14Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Greatest Hits

Their greatest hits album is one of the best ever made. Throw it on and don't look back. Tom Petty is a legend in real life for good Goddamn reason. Top 3 songs: American Girl, Breakdown, Runnin Down a Dream
15Ted Nugent
Cat Scratch Fever

If you're a man, there is honestly nothing to dislike about Uncle Ted. He's approximately 2,345 times cooler than most of the prog bands that get fapped over here. Guitar genius, and awesome dude. Top 3 songs: Stranglehold, Fred Bear, Free For All
16Deep Purple
Machine Head

I don't think many of you realize just how awesome and heavy this band is (for the time). yeah, they weren't Sabbath or Zeppelin, but they were damn close. At the very least, get Machine Head and In Rock. Top 3 Songs: Highway Star, Child In Time, Hush
17Steve Winwood
Arc Of A Diver

This album is listed because its the only Winwood album in the database, which is pure idiocy. Most of you don't know he wrote the song "Gimme Some Lovin" for the Spencer Davis group when he was 14, that he played with Clapton, fronted Traffic, and put on an epic display of pop mastery in the 80's on his solo tip. Top 3 songs (across all bands): Gimme Some Lovin, Dear Mr. Fantasy, The Finer Things
18Fleetwood Mac
Fleetwood Mac

The greatest female singer of all time resides here, and one of rocks greatest songwriter duos does as well. Anything less than guarded worship for this band is inexcusable. Top 3 songs: Rhiannon, Landslide, Dreams
19Marshall Tucker Band
Marshall Tucker Band

Southern Rockers that are just a hair below Skynyrd, but most wouldnt have a clue about that. If you like Skynyrd, youll love them, no question. Top 3 songs: Can't You See (one of the best songs ever), Heard It In a Love Song, Fire on the Mountain.
20Hank Williams
40 Greatest Hits

I'm talking about the whole family here. Sr. pretty much launched country music, Jr (Bocephus) was one of its greatest outlaws, and Hank III is 3 times as bad ass as his dad, which is almost impossible. Time to put the Dick in Dixie and learn up boys.
