11.16.10 | Yoshimi, you're gonna need to explain some of these subgenres because I'm sure I won't like all of it. I know IDM is 'intelligent dance music," whatever that means, but I still don't really get what people mean when they say they like 'house' or 'trance' or whatever else you kids are listening to these days. |
Yotimi
11.16.10 | House is kinda like techno with a steady prominent bass, but more uptempo and I'd say funkier. Trance is kinda like ambient music with a little more oomph and more spacey atmosphere. IDM is a pretty loose term but I'd say anything that puts heavy emphasis on creating unique sounds mixed with complex or unique drum patterns could usually fall under that category. Electro gaze is pretty much My Bloody Valentine on a synthesizer with trip-hop type rhythm. Glitch is kind of hip-hopish but sliced up to give it a non-flowing choppy sound. Deviant - how'd i do? |

11.16.10 | Trance is my favorite sub-genre of Techno/electronic music. Check these:
BT - 'This Binary Universe'
Paul Oakenfold - 'Bunkka' (which actually had a radio hit or two, so it'll probably be hated here, but it's pretty good nonetheless) |
