I Need The Math
yea, recommend me good math rock releases |
1 | | Neil Young Le Noise
pretty cool but it feels incomplete somehow; 3/5 |
2 | | La Maschera di Cera Petali di Fuoco
prog rock that is pretty melodic.. it needs more variety though; 3/5 |
3 | | Mystery One Among the Living
awesome prog rock/neo prog thats quite catchy and captivates the listener.. drags a bit towards the end; 4/5 |
4 | | Pathfinder Beyond the Space, Beyond the Time
cheesy and melodramatic symphonic metal with classical influences; 2/5 |
5 | | The Black Angels Phosphene Dream
poppy side of psychedelic rock.. easy listen but there's not alot that stands out; 3/5 |
6 | | Manticora Safe
power metal thats actually heavy (probably due to heavy prog influence) and not drown in cliche; 4/5 |
7 | | Los Lobos Tin Can Trust
roots rock/tex mex.. chilling songs and its a great listen overall but its hard to differentiate between some tracks; 3,5/5 |
8 | | Hypnos 69 Legacy
psychedelic/prog rock that draws influences from the 60s.. it never comes close to the classics from that era though; 3.5/5 |
9 | | Le pré oů je suis mort / Dolcim / Men as Trees / Dying in Motion Split
Le Pre Ou Je Suis Mort: great 11-minute-long epic song.. they do the whole "screamo/post-rock" thing really well 4/5
Dolcim: only one song (3 minutes long) by them and it doesnt stand out 2.5/5
Men As Tress: another +11 minute song thats even more interesting than the Le Pre Ou Je Suis Mort song, but it takes a different approach 4.5/5
Dying In Motion: only band with more than one song (three, to be exact), each of them being quite great but never getting too special 3,5/5;
3.5/5 overall |
10 | | Alexisonfire Dog's Blood
needs more Dallas, imo.. title track is probably one of their bests, but the other songs (even though they are good) arent even close; 3.5/5 |
11 | | Black Milk Album of the Year
beats are dope, rapping not so much; 3/5 |
12 | | Junip Fields
indie folk rock band with José González thats amazing.. "Always" is probably my SOTY; 4/5 |
13 | | Killing Joke Absolute Dissent
dunno why this isn't getting enough attention.. its awesome post-punk mixed with industrial rock/metal; 4/5 |
14 | | Accept Blood of the Nations
never listened to anything else by them; this is good but it drags and doesnt have too much variety.. singers got a good voice though; 3/5 |
15 | | Uochi Toki Cuore amore errore disintegrazione
weird weird weird italien hip hop (so you might not understand a word like me) but it feels so angry and passionate that I liked it.. beats are nearly non-existent; 3.5/5 |
16 | | Kno Death Is Silent
hype; 3/5 |
17 | | Julie Christmas The Bad Wife
rating is probably too high but I cant get enough of her (voice); 4.5/5 |
18 | | East of the Wall Ressentiment
prog-metal.. sounds like BtBaM with more post-metal influences and its really good; 4/5 |
19 | | RVIVR RVIVR
your average pop-punk record; 2.5/5 |
20 | | Off With Their Heads In Desolation
punk rock/pop punk with catchy riffs, each song having a great chorus; 4/5 |
21 | | Eluvium Similes
quite relaxing and enjoyable but it always ends up being background music.. his voice can get slightly monotonous too; 3/5 |
22 | | Melvins The Bride Screamed Murder
first of their albums I listened to and god, its so average.. I was always waiting for some good riff to kick in but they experiment too much on here; 2.5/5 |
23 | | God Is an Astronaut Age of the Fifth Sun
your average post-rock record; 3/5 |
24 | | Yakuza Of Seismic Consequence
lots of different influences on this one and they use them so well.. need to check out their more-acclaimed stuff; 4/5 |
25 | | The Ascent of Everest From This Vantage
your average post-rock record [2]; 2.5/5 |
26 | | Zoroaster Matador
great but not a lot that stands out; 3.5/5 |
27 | | U.S. Christmas Run Thick in the Night
excellent mix of different genres, creating a spacey album with lots of fun in the process.. you might get used to the singers voice though; 4/5 |
28 | | Superchunk Majesty Shredding
pop punk done right; 4/5 |
29 | | Sully Erna Avalon
better than most of Godsmacks stuff, probably due to the vast array of influences; 3.5/5 |
30 | | The Souljazz Orchestra Rising Sun
pales when compared to good soul/jazz records; 3/5 |
