Amnesiac: Ranked
It's my first radiohead list give me a break. Also Amnesiac is no OK/Kid A, it's still amazing and better than a whole lot of stuff tbh. I also put a loada lyrics in cos I felt like it and they're a huge part of the album |
| 1 | Radiohead Life In A Glass House
Just something completely different, the Jazz band in the background makes this song what it is. Just another one of those things where only radiohead can pull it off. Great crescendo throughout building throughout as the Jazz band becomes much more prominent. "Well of course I'd like to sit around and chat, but someone's listening in." Creates a huge sense of paranoia and this is just by far the best track on the album. |
| 2 | You And Whose Army?
After a slow start, it starts to build up and manages to burst into life with great use of the symbols this becomes almost anthemic. "We Ride Tonight, Ghost Horses" |
| 3 | Pyramid Song
Unusually for a radiohead song, it's lead by the piano and works superbly. The lyrics are particularly powerful here, and the listener truly feels the sensation of drowning: "I jumped in a river and what did I see? Black eyed angels swam with me" |
| 4 | Packt Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box
Just a mezmerising song and a great album opener with Yorke repeatedly singing: "I'm a reasonable man get off my case" which sets the scene for the album perfectly, keeping with its techno feel and Yorke's battle with paranoia |
| 5 | Knives Out
Catchy riffs here as well,"I want you to know
He's not coming back
Look into my eyes
I'm not coming back" |
| 6 | Like Spinning Plates
The fact that this is "I Will" in reverse is quite amazing tbh, both great songs in their own right. "I'm living in cloud cuckoo land
And this just feels like spinning plates
My body is floating down the muddy river " |
| 7 | I Might Be Wrong
This actually a really catchy song, not what I normally look for in a radiohead track. The lyrics continue to back up the rest of the album: "I used to think
There is no future left at all" |
| 8 | Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors
Interesting techno track full of weird and random electro sounds, but seems to fit well into the album despite being so different. Not boring like 'Hunting bears' becomes after a few listens. |
| 9 | Dollars & Cents
"Why don't you quiet down? Why won't you quiet down?" Yorke's vocals make this track, good tune but nothing special |
| 10 | Amnesiac/Morning Bell
Just kinda makes be wish I was listening to Kid A instead, the lyrics just creep me out as well:"Cut the kids in half,
Cut the kids in half" |
| 11 | Hunting Bears
Nothing really happens on this track tbh a shame and really the lowest point on this otherwise excellent album |
