Stuff I've Discovered Thanks To This Site

Haven't really been vocal since I joined this site (going to change that). But just by looking at lists and reviews on the front page, I've found and bought plenty of albums that are good, or even great, by my standards.
1Scar Symmetry
Holographic Universe

I would list every band I like that Christian's in, but that would seem kind of redundant to do that, this is my favorite album that he's had a part in.
2Deftones
Diamond Eyes

A real nice escape from the death/melodeath/metalcore I normally listen to, Chino is as good as they come these days.
3Periphery
Periphery

I like these guys a lot, but they REALLY need to shorten the length of their songs that they plan to put on future albums, or just take some off. I can't focus enough to get to Racecar most of the time even though that's the best song on it.
4Cloudkicker
Beacons

Just started listening to this guy a couple days ago, very impressed with his talent and I hope he gets recognized more than just the internet.
5Protest the Hero
Kezia

My brother was a huge, huge freak over these guys, and I didn't really like them too much until reading a review on them from this site, then actually sitting down and listening to them. Can't wait for their next album.
6Becoming the Archetype
Terminate Damnation

A pretty damn good progressive death metal (i think...?) band, the music stays consistently interesting throughout their 2 earlier albums. Not too big a fan of the third, I don't even want to rate it :|.
7The Absence
Riders of the Plague

After Scar Symmetry, this really got me into Melodic Death Metal. I guess I really like the dweedle sound.
8Woe of Tyrants
Threnody

As far as I know/care, the best Melo-death to come out of America, they write VERY catchy and interesting melodies and I have been listening to them for the past week non-stop almost. I hope they progress a bit with their next album, this band has a lot of potential.
9Opeth
Blackwater Park

This band knows how to go from a death metal sound to an acoustic sound better than anyone else out there. And they play one HELL of a live show.
10Disarmonia Mundi
Fragments of D-Generation

Speed's work with this band is better than most of his work with Soilwork, in my opinion, not to say Soilwork is "bad" by any sense, but they really are horrible with staying consistent.
11Amorphis
Silent Waters

Probably my favorite band on this list, the deep singing is phenomenal, the rhythm sections very well done, and I'm a gay fan boy for them.
12 A Breath Before Surfacing
Death is Swallowed by Victory

One of three bands that are convincing me that Deathcore isn't ENTIRELY dead yet.
13Shadow of the Colossus
Shadow of the Colossus

This band being one of the other ones, I like the instrumental in this one quite a bit.
14Burning the Masses
Mind Control

This being the third band. They have some sik sweepz brah. But seriously, I like their "brutal deathcore" sound a lot.
15Called to Arms
Peril and the Patient

A band that proves not ALL metalcore is mediocre. A very fun sound coupled with a good amount of catchy moments are the 2 main reasons I like this band.
16Powerglove
Metal Kombat for the Mortal Man

I'm huge on video games and TV, I was basically grown up on them, so this is one of my dream bands. The covers they do are very well done and I hope they continue that consistency.
17Sonata Arctica
Reckoning Night

A couple years ago I thought DragonForce was the sound of ALL power metal...How wrong I was. I like these guys quite a bit, but their newest album didn't hold my attention that long at all.
18Demonic Resurrection
The Return to Darkness

I like this band's sound a lot. Simple as that.
19Edge of Sanity
Crimson II

I think Dan Swano is one hell of a musician, and this band clearly shows why. I can't wait to hear more from them.
20Enfold Darkness
Our Cursed Rapture

Very biased choice here, but I think this is the best band on Sumerian Records and will be for a LONG time.
