| Lakes' Top 15 Albums... Ever
This took forever to rank, but I'm pretty confident in this order. | 15 | | Faith No More Angel Dust | 14 | | Weezer The Blue Album | 13 | | The Beach Boys Pet Sounds | 12 | | The Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street | 11 | | Bob Dylan Highway 61 Revisited | 10 | | Weezer Pinkerton | 9 | | George Harrison All Things Must Pass | 8 | | The Beatles Abbey Road | 7 | | Paul Simon Graceland | 6 | | The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band | 5 | | Joanna Newsom Ys
Outlandish medieval tales brought to life by a she-gnome with an enormous talent for songwriting and the harp. Couldn't recommend more. For a period of time, this would have been in my #1 spot. | 4 | | Jethro Tull Thick as a Brick
The best prog album ever. Jethro Tull are possibly the only band that can make a 40 minute song with little to no boring sections. The first three minutes are complete musical euphoria, rarely matched in my three years and nearly 250 albums of music listening. | 3 | | Neutral Milk Hotel In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
I'm astounded by how this album continues to grow on me. From the beginning I felt it was pretty close to a classic, and its power on me grows even more with every listen. I am awed by how... I can't even explain it. Just go out and buy this right now, because if you haven't heard this, you cannot truly call yourself a fan of music. Classic. | 2 | | Bob Dylan Blood on the Tracks
Hands down the best Dylan album and possibly the greatest folk album of all-time, Blood on the Tracks is a heart wrenching album of relationship problems and beautiful music. "Tangled Up in Blue" and "Idiot Wind" rank among my favorite songs of all time. Dylan is a genius. | 1 | | Radiohead OK Computer
Need I even elaborate? Radiohead used to be one of those bands I "didn't get" and I couldn't understand why they received such praise. Of course, at that point I had only heard "Creep" and some of the In Rainbows singles like "House of Cards." One day I gave into the hype and checked out OK Computer from my local library. I was so incredibly infatuated with it that I forgot to rip it to my computer, and thus I have been apart from this album for a long time, but absence makes the heart grow fonder. Need to buy for myself. | |
