| Looking For Inspiration?
I'm awake at 3:47 AM. Thanks to the lil one, I'm wide awake and can't get back to sleep, so I'm making a list of ten inspirational songs, spanning mostly metal, alternative, and hardcore. Beam me up, Scotty! | 1 | Bane Swan Song
As your life crumbles around you, will there be someone there to lift you from the wreckage? | 2 | In Flames Crawl Through Knives
Whether you have faith or not in a higher power, you must have a strong belief in something, whether it's flesh and bones or something celestial. Would you be willing to suffer for your faith(beliefs)? What will you do stand up for what you believe in? How far will you go? | 3 | Defeater Cowardice
No matter what you've done, you can always be saved or forgiven. Life is full of mistakes and self-inflicted traumas, but life goes on. You don't have to let the terrible things you've done hang over your head and define you. Your mistakes don't define you, but what you do afterwards does. | 4 | Thursday Understanding in a Car Crash
The story of a failed relationship and the forseeable end. How far are you willing to go to save what makes you happy? | 5 | Thrice The Artist and the Ambulance
When you look back at your life, is it full of regret and remorse? A song about a last chance to come clean, to make peace with yourself and the rest of world. No one wants to die in vain. | 6 | Ruiner Dead Weight
This one is more personal for me, as it tells the story of coming from nothing and having to work for everything you need or desire. | 7 | Deftones Knife Prty
The whole song's about sitting in a shooting gallery, shooting up with the love of your life and watching each other fade away into nothingness. It's quite a depressing song, but I relate to it on so many levels due to my own past addictions and obsessions. | 8 | Alice In Chains Nutshell
If you've ever struggled with an addiction, this song should hit a note with you. The feelings of despair and hopelessness are perfectly portrayed by Staley, as that painful, regretful voice seethes with sadness and self-loathing. Anyone who's been through an addiction can relate to everything he is saying. | 9 | Verse Songs & Daughters
My favorite hardcore song, maybe my favorite song overall. This is a song about not conforming, about being yourself. Would you rather be a drone for the world, the government, or your peers, or would you rather think for yourself and not entrap yourself in a prison you can't escape from? | 10 | Johnny Cash Hurt
Yes, I know it's a NIN cover, but The Man in Black made it his own. Reznor's version is ace, but Johnny took it to a whole new level. You can hear the pain and remorse in his voice, reminiscing about days gone and the regret he has. Everyone wishes they could re-do just one thing in their life, but no one ever gets that chance. | |
