Most Underrated Iron Maiden Songs

The top 5 songs Iron Maiden has recorded that do not receive the credit that they are due.
5Iron Maiden
Purgatory

Early Maiden at their best. I mean, come on. This early in their career and
they were already putting out classic songs. I think Paul DiAnno sung
amazingly on this song, almost like Bruce but with a sharper rasp. And the
chorus is just so catchy, and has amazing riffs thrown in with a dense layer
of guitar, it's just such a great song.
4Caught Somewhere in Time

This is one of my personal favorites, and just one listen would explain why.
Back in 1986, Iron Maiden was supposedly "changing their sound" and
many fans did not want to feel alienated. However, this album-defining
song certainly did not alienate people. Sure, the synths did make it sound a
bit different, but it still had that magical Maiden feel to it, with the galloping
bassline and dual guitars.
3The Prisoner

It starts out with a line from the classic TV show of the same name, and
then 50 seconds of the same, heavy intro. Suddenly, the guitar gallops off
into a fast trot and the song is off. The chorus reminds me of a hair metal
band, yes, but it's just so catchy without loosing it's roots. And then that
solo...god, the guitar solo really brought me into this song. It has a live feel
to it, possibly with some reverb, and makes you think your right in the
studio. Possibly one of Maiden's best songs ever that has never been
played live.
2Flight of Icarus

I cannot think of many other songs that describe Maiden so perfectly. It's
catchy, about greek mythology, and has that huge chorus that Bruce
Dickonson manages to somehow sing pitch perfect.
1Montsegur

What a classic song. Seriously, how can true Maiden fans turn themselves
off to such a Maidenesque tune! It starts off heavier than most songs they
make, then going into a 'dunces and dragons' verse, and bursting into such
an infectious chorus I sing it in the shower. This was definitely the song
that evoked the early Maiden days.
