| Bands You Should Hear
I'm spreading the word. These all are great bands that I love that few people on this site know of. | | 1 | | Skyfire Timeless Departure
What is there to say about a band like Skyfire? They combine power metal, neoclassical metal, and even some symphonic black metal to form something truly progressive. A lot of their sound is derived from the keyboardist who isn?t content with sitting in the background. Most of the time the keyboard takes the place of the lead guitar, carrying the song along. Also, the vocals are raspy and screamed, providing an alternative to the power metal bands utilizing clean vocals. | | 2 | | Memento Beginnings
One of my personal favorite bands. An alt-metal band that gained some popularity by playing at Ozzfest in 2003. Hard to say all the good things this band does. Excellent musicianship all around, and they?re fronted by a powerful vocalist. Their songs convey a lot of emotion, from the guitar solos to the haunting vocals, and to the strings and piano that are used sparingly throughout the album. The songs contain great song writing as well. This is evident on the album?s closer, the thirteen-minute epic, ?Figure 8? which contains acoustic guitars, piano, guitar solos, and even a cello solo and they manage to fit all of that together so well you won?t realize the song you?re listening to is nearly thirteen minutes long. | | 3 | | Burst Origo
Metalcore act from Sweden. These guys prove that metalcore doesn?t have to be simple or straightforward. In truth, these guys are the Isis of metalcore. Incorporating beautiful songs full of melody and intense songs full of headbangable riffs. They combing both of these styles into one song seamlessly. Tight musicianship all around. | | 4 | | Sanctity Road to Bloodshed
If a band can make it onto a large nationwide tour such as Gigantour without even releasing their first CD, you know they have something going on. When I saw them live, they played a very tight set, making their first album one of most eagerly awaited albums. They take thrash influences such as Megadeth and fuse it with the melodic approach of bands such as At the Gates and In Flames. They have also managed to incorporate tasteful solos that aren?t full of just pure shredding. Definitely look for these guys in the future. | | 5 | | Threat Signal Under Reprisal
Threat Signal is a technical thrash metal band. They also take hints of melodic death metal and metalcore and throw it into the mix. They are inspired by Meshuggah, mostly in the groove, and it shows. Their singer?s screaming vocals sound very reminiscent of Jens Kidman, though Threat Signal prove to be more accessible than their Swedish counterparts since they don?t always use crazy time signatures. Also, they slip in beautiful leads and melodies. Just look at their song ?A New Beginning? as an example. | |

01.12.07 | I've heard a track or two by Sanctity off their myspace. They were pretty good. | jrowa001
01.12.07 | Burst is really good, but i could use more clean vocals. When the Wave Broke is simply amazing.
im interested in checking out memento. who do they sound like?
skyfire is pretty awesome too | DaTwig
01.12.07 | Memento is hard to find comparisons with. They are a unique band. If push came to shove the closest band I could come up with would be Mudvayne, but more melodic and without any screaming vocals. They sort of have a nu-metal vibe to them. I know that probably wasn't helpful, but that's all I could come up with right now.
Really, you should listen to them though. If you head to their website, www.mementoband.com you can listen to clips from their album. That should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from them | Eakflanderyof
