Musical Synesthesia

Whenever I listen to music, the way I visualize it always plays a big role. My mind usually generates a color to sort of match the atmosphere of the record and it always impacts the way I listen. Props to sniper for the list idea.
1Belong
October Language

Pink. The harsh, yet airy electronics build up a ridiculously dense atmosphere similar to the fuzzyness of
Loveless.
2Fugazi
The Argument

Dull blue. The guitars are really light and many of the songs sort of build quietly, sometimes even getting
lost in the eclectic atmosphere
3The Mars Volta
Frances The Mute

Bold, dark red. The sprawling cinematic mess of this record triggers an epic, brooding sound that shines
boldly and is always dense.
4Max Richter
The Blue Notebooks

Somber dark blue. The strings and main motifs generate the sad sound, with electronics and trickling
ambience providing a dark atmosphere that makes this record.
5The Microphones
The Glow pt.2

Pale yellow. The lo-fi, multi-tracked sound to this record creates a sparse, light atmosphere that gently
presents the dark songwriting of phil elvrum.
6Unwound
Leaves Turn Inside You

Dark Green. This album has an impersonal, yet thick character that can be disturbing but never fully lets go.
7Meat Puppets
Meat Puppets II

A mix of autumn colors, particularly orange and brown. The countryish, agreeable minimalism of this
album reminds me of autumn, particularly "plateau".
8Dan Deacon
Bromst

Multi-colored. Just ridiculous build-ups that culminate in lovable communal sing-a-alongs and quirky
electronics, a sound that hits home but always humors. Just a sweeping, colorful album.
