01.05.07 | It's Simonon* And as much as I like him, I don't think he is one of the best bassists ever, though he sure is an above average punk bassist. | samthebassman
01.05.07 | To me he is a great, great bassist. He fused punk rock & reggae together to hold down the bottom end in one of the most infuential bands ever. | grungeguy88
01.05.07 | nobody remembers geezer butler | Jacaranda
01.05.07 | chris cheney sucks | tom79
01.05.07 | Oh yeah I just noticed you missed Matt Freeman | IsItLuck?
01.05.07 | Overall, not a bad list.
Note to commenters: just because he doesn't have wooten or whomever you like, it's most likely because he's not interested in any of their music or has not heard it. take it easy. | metallicaman8
01.05.07 | Had it going good at first. I think you started to reach towards the end. Perhaps because you couldn't think of more people. | JumpTheF**kUp
01.05.07 | Where is Martin Mendez? (Opeth)
He rawks. | craigy2
01.05.07 | pretty good list, tom79 is right about matt freeman, he deserves about to be on this list. less than jake's roger manganelli is a great bassist in IMO | spoon_of_grimbo
01.05.07 | how about jason black of hot water music? listen to "fuel for the hate game," if you want a reason to add him to the list. one of the best and most underrated bassists in punk rock. | renegadestrings
01.05.07 | uuuhhhh, cliff burton????
not bad tho. i will say this, even though i believe rage against the machine was a gift from the deities, tim commorford is not THAT good of a bassist. very routine, though he can add some interesting dynamics. and thank you for giving justin the credit, Tool's sound relies so very heavily on the bass | phillramirez
01.05.07 | Most of them on this list real, but when you say best do you me technical or what! Because there's some guys who aren't good. and doesn't Howerdell write most of the basslines in APC.
Here's some good technical players that are good if not great:
Richard Bona, Victor Bailey, Steve Bailey, Stanley Clarke, Chirs Squiere, Jack Bruce, Jamer Jamerson, Anthony Jackson, John Myung, Larry Graham, Pino Palladino, Tommy Shannon, Billy Sheehan.
Richard Bona's new album owns.

02.07.07 | i agree with 'thehamburgerman', i think even i could play dirnts bass lines, and ive never touched a bass in my life, i play guitar | ciara101
04.19.07 | liking the list but my number 1 would be John Entwistle |
