08.23.10 | 6 is pretty garbage... Greatest comedy of all time? Mean Girls. Easy.
Watch:
Requiem For A Dream
Grave of the Fireflies
Mulholland Dr.

greg84
08.23.10 | Greatest comedy of all time? Some Like It Hot, The Producers (original), Hot Fuzz. Probably one of these. |
BigHans
08.23.10 | Are you seriously comparing Mean Girls to Dumb and Dumber? |

08.23.10 | I agree with 1,4,10,13.
I'd also add Braveheart, The Shawshank Redemption, The Departed, and Into The Wild, |
DiceMan
08.23.10 | of course I am. Mean Girls is hilarious. Tina Fey is hilarious. Dumb and Dumber isn't even funny.
Hot Fuzz is really good though. So is the original Producers. |
Nagrarok
08.23.10 | I'll just say it: Peter Jackson's LotR trilogy. |

08.23.10 | Gomorrah.
you'll love it. |
robertsona
08.23.10 | gomorrah is great; i saw it once in theaters and am going to see it again at All Tomorrow's Parties New York
you know along with sonic youth sunn O))) boris fuck buttons the books iggy pop and the stooges no big
but yeah; it's also one of those movies thats quite complex so it might leave your mind boggled while your watching it, but when you leave the theater and it all comes together youre like "THAT WAS GREAT"
ya |
Kubrick
08.23.10 | 2001: A Space Odyssey??
Also,
Donnie Darko
The Shining
Being John Malkovich
Hero
Full Metal Jacket
Memento
Kill Bill
Let the Right One In
There's more but I won't clog up the thread... Pretty damn good list btw.. Especially Eternal Sunshine, A Clockwork Orange, Pulp Fiction, Pan's Labyrinth, American Beauty and Schindler's List
|
Nagrarok
08.23.10 | Oh, and the first Alien. Especially amazing the first time you see it. |
Kubrick
08.23.10 | Also, is Ratatouille really better than Wall-E? Wall-E is definitely the best Pixar I have seen. |
Kubrick
08.23.10 | Yeah, love Full Metal Jacket.. and I guess I should definitely watch Ratatouille then because I really loved Wall-E |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.23.10 | Donnie Darko's the most overrated piece of junk ever. Five's for me: Gladiator, Alien and Alien(s), Cronos, Apocalypse Now, The Godfather, Chinatown, just to name a few. |
theacademy
08.23.10 | im going to comment on 1-14 on this list:
pretty respectable list, man! I think 8's a little overrated, but that's just me... |
Classikmetal
08.23.10 | 6 & 9...wtf. |
Kubrick
08.23.10 | You really think so? It's definitely one of my favorites.. pretty much infinite replay value for me. Did you see the theatrical version or the director's cut? I've only seen the director's cut but apparently the theatrical version is a lot more confusing and hard to follow. |
BigHans
08.23.10 | Mean Girls funnier than Dumb and Dumber is literally the most hilarious thing Ive seen on the site, no offense. |
Bfhurricane
08.23.10 | 6 & 12 ftw, my two favorite movies. Definitely missing The Shawshank Redemption though, maybe Mulholland Drive too. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.23.10 | I've seen both of them, Kubrick, and they both don't impress me one bit. It's a bunch of convoluted nonsense. It's the desperate attempt of a director trying to be different, rather than just complete a thought. Mean Girls is in no way funnier than Dumb and Dumber. |
robertsona
08.23.10 | mean girls is hilar wtf guys |
geng
08.23.10 | Some good films. Needs The Good The Bad & The Ugly, The Shining and imo Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas. |
SeaAnemone
08.23.10 | I think the whole Mean Girls / Dumb & Dumber thing can be explained by the generation gap |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.23.10 | I don't know how the generation gap can explain that. Funny is funny. |
SherlockAlts
08.23.10 | I love Robert Downey jr.'s representation of myself in the newest flim! The fiesty Sherlock character sure was fun to watch. They even made Watson seem less feminine! |
AggravatedYeti
08.23.10 | both movies are really funny? |
SeaAnemone
08.23.10 | but what constitutes "funny" changes over time, obviously.
tbh neither movie REALLY does it for me, but I enjoy both |
Terrifyer
08.23.10 | wayne's world |
Kubrick
08.23.10 | Ok just wondering.. definitely will disagree with you on that one though. It's definitely not one of those movies that will be considered a classic universally but I love it.
Also, I would definitely add the original Halloween too. I'm sure a lot of people would disagree on that and it's definitely not as good of a movie as anything on this list. But it totally revolutionized the horror genre and it probably has the best original soundtrack ever. I wouldn't even be able to walk around my neighborhood at night while listening to some of those songs without getting paranoid and looking over my shoulder. |
EuphoricDysphoria81
08.23.10 | "Ok just wondering.. definitely will disagree with you on that one though. It's definitely not one of those movies that will be considered a classic universally but I love it."
It's not way considered a classic universally. I don't know one person over the age of 21 that considers it a classic at all. |
Winsomniac
08.23.10 | 8 and 15 are amazing. I'm a big fan of think-y movies though. |
Luffy
08.23.10 | good list, i'd pick reservoir dogs over pulp fiction if i'd only pick one tarantino though |
londoncalling457
08.23.10 | still need to watch a lot of these. |
Kubrick
08.23.10 | "It's not way considered a classic universally. I don't know one person over the age of 21 that considers it a classic at all."
Right, I know.. I said it's not one of those movies that will be considered a classic universally. I'm agreeing with you. It doesn't really matter to me personally whether I am the only one who even enjoyed the movie (I do know a couple people that also love it btw). I consider it a classic regardless of its reputation and/or popularity. To each his own man... I'm not saying you're wrong or right, I'm just giving my opinion. |
