Lakes' 2010 So Far List

And here I present to you my 5 favorite albums of 2010 so far... critique and rec because with youtube at my disposal this list is bound to change soon.
1The National
High Violet

After six listens I still see no reason to rate this under a 5; the only flaws I can really find with it are Lemonworld and Runaway just for being a little too repetitive, but even those two are amazing. High Violet could easily make my top 10 albums of all time list and come December there is little doubt in my mind that it will still be my album of the year.
2The Tallest Man on Earth
The Wild Hunt

I've only listened to it all the way through three times, and while The Wild Hunt still has a lot of time to grow on me it already has so much. Bumped to a 4.5.
3Menomena
Mines

Rec'd as a response to this list - THANK YOU. This is amazing stuff here, and I can only see it growing on me with time. Rivals the National and The Tallest Man on Earth for AOTY contender for me.
4House of Heroes
Suburba

Though bound to be overlooked on Sputnik, Suburba is the perfect summer album. With songs for just about any mood, plus a good dose of diversity and excellent musicianship, you're missing out on a lot if you pass this one by.
5Arcade Fire
The Suburbs

As with The Wild Hunt, I haven't had much time to digest this one but first impressions are spectacular. They seemed to have upped their game considerably from Neon Bible and added more variety and spunk. Sounds a little too 80s at times, but The Suburbs is just too hard to resist. Musically and lyrically, it's a brilliant album.
