Recording An Album With My Friend
So my friend and I have started a collaboration and are in the process of recording an album before we split up for college. The feel is kind of likea combination of post-rock, alternative rock, and progressive. Here's a list of digs, influences, and what our stuff sounds similar to.
On a side note, I am seeing KARNIVOOl in a few weeks! :D |
| 1 | | Karnivool Sound Awake
I'm seeing them in a few weeks, and they influence my writing a bit. |
| 2 | | Thrice Vheissu
Some influences here for some riffs and an art rock style. |
| 3 | | Maybeshewill Sing The Word Hope in Four-Part Harmony
Instrumental rock inspiration. |
| 4 | | Mogwai Mr. Beast
Mr Beast somewhat influenced a few songs of mine. |
| 5 | | The Mars Volta The Bedlam in Goliath
Mutual dig. |
| 6 | | Radiohead Hail to the Thief
Radiohead overall has been an inspiration for our atmosphere and alternative rock feel. |
| 7 | | Explosions in the Sky The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place |
| 8 | | Caspian The Four Trees
Post rock like EitS and Caspian have heavily influenced my style and atmosphere. |
| 9 | | Dredg El Cielo
El Cielo is a recent dig of mine and is beginning to be an influence. |
| 10 | | Oceansize Everyone Into Position
This band has overall changed the way I think about music. |
| 11 | | Tides of Man Empire Theory
Recent dig of mine. The lighter stuff has slightly influenced my writing. |
| 12 | | Closure in Moscow First Temple
A recent dig, but it's too eclectic to be an influence. |
| 13 | | Godspeed You! Black Emperor Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to
GY!BE mostly influenced my weird experimental side. |
| 14 | | Jazz
It doesn't show in our music, but jazz has been a long time influence in my life. |
| 15 | | Myself
Okay, so the biggest influence is myself. My music is something that is very personal, and no influences, no matter how big, can really leave a big enough mark to outweigh my own personality to it. |
