07.10.10 | I hardly ever watch basketball but I think I might start watching it this coming season to see if the "three kings" do well or not. |
Inveigh
07.10.10 | you mean the Three My-Egos? or the Menage Twat?
El B.J. and his two testes? |
shrapnel
07.10.10 | Miami is gonna need more size to deal with the Lakers though.
btw I can't imagine Kobe, Jordan, Magic, Bird joining another great player in order to win a ring.
dunno whether to praise Lebron for putting his ego aside or chastise him for taking the easy way out (sort of) |
Inveigh
07.10.10 | I think LeBron's ego is so big and he was so wrapped up in himself he didn't even consider the fact that people might criticize him for winning a championship the cheap way.
He's no Jordan, Magic, Bird or Kobe -- he's not even a Duncan or Olajuwon. He's more like a Julius Erving, Clyde Drexler or James Worthy. He's a super-hyped, ultra-athletic player who hasn't added much to his game in terms of actual basketball skills, and at his core is more of a complimentary player than an alpha dog. It won't matter though, because Wade's got the killer instinct and alpha dog mentality to make up for it. |
shrapnel
07.10.10 | Wade is a true alpha dog and if Lebron is an alpha dog too, they won't be able to make it work. I feel that the cream will rise to the top and Wade will establish himself as the leader of the team with Lebron and Bosh taken their spot as sidekicks |

07.10.10 | pretty much:
1. thunder (but really the heat)
2. heat
3. everyone else
4. the knicks rofl
5. the hawks rofl x 10 |
Inveigh
07.10.10 | yeah the Hawks are screwed. They didn't get any better, but the East as a whole got a lot better. At least the Knicks didn't screw themselves permanently, they just overpaid for Stoudemire. They also got Anthony Randolph from the Warriors and will probably make a run at Carmelo through trade this season or next summer. |

07.10.10 | I didn't really want Lebron at first tbh, I was content with Bosh/Wade and signing some mid level players to complement Beasley/Chalmers but then my integrity flew out the window with James. Sucks to see Beasley go along with Cleveland's entire future but like the man said, he plays to win and they weren't making any attempts to sign people. Play to win, at the end of the day it's a business. |

07.12.10 | we'll see about that buddy... last time I checked you need to sign up some people to play defense and rebound, and there's no way to be sure all those egos won't explode at some point.
on a side note... did anyone see that ridiculous introduction party in Miami for the Menage Twats? it looked like a parody of the intro for the NWO or something, I couldn't help but think these guys are going to look back on that footage someday and realize that the entire world outside of that arena was laughing their asses off at them. |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | Lol, do you think they'll care if they win 4 or 5 rings and make millions of dollars? |
Inveigh
07.12.10 | yeah, knowing how conscious El BJ is of his legacy, I'm pretty sure he'll care that he's already taken his name out of the "greatest player of all time" debate. He's arguably not even the most important player on his own team anymore.
and still, let's see them actually play a game before we start handing them multiple championships. |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | C'mon Blake, where did I say they will? All I said was do you think they'll be laughing IF they win 4 or 5 rings and earn millions? Don't twist my words around. As excited as I am, I am still a realist and I realize a lot more work needs to be done. |
Inveigh
07.12.10 | lol
ahem, allow me to quote, eloquently:
"*in a sing-song voice* ah-hahaha-ha we're gonna rape you ah-hahaha we're gonna vio-late you ah-hahaha lebron's gonna shit on you ah-hahaha 5 future riiiinnngs ah-hahaha Miami rules the world ah-hahaha ya'll can choke on a dick"
the parts I would like to specifically highlight include "we're gonna rape you," "5 future rings," and "y'all can choke on a dick" |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | It's also a Heat fan enjoying the excitement. Let me have my fun, because one day you'll be having yours, and you'll want to do the same..... exact..... thing..... |
Inveigh
07.12.10 | come on man i'm just giving you shit the same way you're giving it to me -- if my team can't have the best roster in the league at least allow me to make fun of the evil empire Satan Riley built down in South Beach
oh yeah, and i already had my fun (*cough* six championships *cough*) |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | Lol, aren't you from Atlanta though? |
Inveigh
07.12.10 | god damnit i was hoping you weren't going to mention that
ok fine. 15 straight division titles, um, cough |
BallsToTheWall
07.12.10 | Cant believe how much Atlanta paid for that guy..................... |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | The Atlanta Braves(not counting the Milwaukee Braves or any other Braves teams) did have a "dynasty" going there for a while. Too bad they only got 1 ring out of those 15 straight division titles. Also funny that the marlins have 2 in about 15 less years than the braves have been in the ATL. Funny, isn't it?
Hey, have the Falcons won anything? How about the Hawks? nah, fraid not.
Dolphins- 3 rings
Heat- 1 Rings(about to be 4 or 5 more)
Marlins- 2
I'd say our amount vastly weighs out Atlanta's. |
BallsToTheWall
07.12.10 | Braves are owning hard right now, good for them. Tid Hudson has been beast. |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | Oh, and what about colleges? I forgot about my Canes!!!!
What was it? 5 rings in 25 years? How many do the Ramblin' Wreck have? or the Dawgs? Come on blake, ANSWER ME!! |
Inveigh
07.12.10 | hey the Dawgs won a national title way back in the day! and they're one of the top 5 schools for running backs of all time:
Hershell Walker
Garrison Hearst
Terrell Davis
Knowshon Moreno
Robert Edwards
Musa Smith
ok, the last two not as much but the top 3 alone are pretty epic.
and now i'm confused about your points -- Miami's been down for so long so I should give them a break yet their sports history is so much richer than my towns? why do I owe them a break? |
BallsToTheWall
07.12.10 | Why the fuck is everyone so bitter that they want to look into possible"""""tampering charges""""" |
Inveigh
07.12.10 | yeah, I don't know about that. I think saying these guys were tampering is a bit much -- you can thank Mark Cuban for bringing that up. |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | The past ten years, despite the WS ring in '03 and '06 ring for the Heat, the City of Miami has been continually punched in the gut by atheletes and owners. Nick Saban, Shaq, Cam Cameron, Jeffrey Loria, Larry Coker, the OSU-UM National Title Game.... want me to keep going? |
BallsToTheWall
07.12.10 | Calm down pit. Also having Jesse Jackson get into it.....good god. |

07.12.10 | sooooo stoked for the thunder, and so glad Cole Aldrich got a good home.
i'm also a big Duke fan (lol) so i'm hoping that the Heat pick up Scheyer, he's not a big defensive player which is what the Heat need but he can put up quality accurate 3s which is always good. plus he won't be very expensive |
Inveigh
07.12.10 | what like Chicago and Atlanta haven't been punched in the gut just as bad? Bartman against your Marlins in '03, U of I losing the NCAA championship in '04, all the Braves playoff disappointments, Michael FUCKING Vick?!
The Cubs haven't won a championship in 101 years! The Sox won in '05, but that was the first one in in over 80 years, and the Blackhawks FINALLY ended their damn near 50 year drought this year, after being the worst franchise in professional sports for a decade. Their games weren't even on TV for like 4 years lol
and don't even get me started on Rex Grossman... |
Inveigh
07.12.10 | lol and Scheyer's from the Chicago suburbs.. |
BallsToTheWall
07.12.10 | We all know it wasn't just Bartman. It was 2 or 3 other assholes that interfered and only he took the blame. |
illmitch
07.12.10 | how about ali farokhmanesh for a punch in the gut |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | Once again Blake, are you from ATL or Chicago? I'm so confused by your loyalty, or, actually, lack of it. |
BallsToTheWall
07.12.10 | Lebron's a Yankees fan. Just sayin.
I Love the Panthers albeit not being from Carolina, |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | That's okay, Balls. I don't have any issue with that.
Lol, but Blake cheers for about 8 different teams from about 8 different cities. Where's the loyalty in that? |
illmitch
07.12.10 | my teams:
college basketball - kansas and duke
college football - kansas
nfl - chiefs
nba - never had an nba team before but im steadily becoming a thunder fan
beyond that there are teams that i like but i dont like actively follow them |
illmitch
07.12.10 | oh yeah i also like the golden state warriors cuz that was my moms team, and i was born in oakland |
BallsToTheWall
07.12.10 | It's a bit contradictory because well, sports loyalty in Florida is far and in between. Been going to heat/Dolphin/Marlin games since I was a young lad but this whole kings business isn't gonna make matters any better. |
Inveigh
07.12.10 | nah I don't cheer for Atlanta teams really anymore, since I haven't lived there for over 11 years. I'm solely a Chicago fan, but you brought up the fact that I was born and grew up in Atlanta so I mentioned those teams too -- even though growing up I had more Bulls stuff (like jerseys and posters and shit) than Hawks, so I always considered myself primarily a Bulls fan anyways.
I was a Falcons and Braves fan back in the day though. |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | I'll keep stating the facts until people understand:
Miami is considered a fair-weather sports town for a few reasons:
1. Too much to do down here.
2. Too many transplants from Latin America or NY
3. Why go to a Marlin's game and show loyalty when the owner doesn't? |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | Lol..... that's funny Blake. You were never really a fan of your hometown teams? And yet you criticize Miami for it? Regardless of age, you shouldn't be saying anything then about us and the people around us. |
BallsToTheWall
07.12.10 | Win of the day.
"Miami is considered a fair-weather sports town for a few reasons:

Inveigh
07.12.10 | hey dude, I was born in Atlanta, moved to Oklahoma City before I was a year old, moved back to Atlanta when I was 5, moved to St. Louis when I was 13, Chicago at 16, back to St. Louis at 18, and back to Chicago at 19 -- I don't really have a hometown. |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | Balls- Because it's the truth.
Inveigh- Doesn't matter, lol, you still shouldn't be complaining about us when you do the same thing. |
Inveigh
07.12.10 | I never complained about you -- all I said was Florida sports fans don't even show up to games. I've always supported the teams of the towns I lived in by showing up to games, whether I was cheering for that team or not.
My point was the Heat sell out like 3 games a year, while New York, Chicago and Cleveland sold out every game for the past decade basically. |
BallsToTheWall
07.12.10 | I think you're both, actually all of us are spamming this thread with mostly unnecessary unwarranted bullshit. Especially Pit the instigator. |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | Oh, and btw, I gotta do it. I'm sick and this is the only thing that will help me feel better.
Here is what I've been hearing Bulls/Cavs/Knicks/Nets fans saying since Thursday non-stop:
and I quote:
"WWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! WWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Sorry Blake, but it's all in good fun. |
Inveigh
07.12.10 | lol Pit don't act like you haven't already posted that exact comment in like 12 other threads since Thursday night |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | It's my SPutnik duty to instigate. Blake knows this, that's why he's not getting angry with me and just catering to my bantering and gloating rather than telling me to fuck off. |
BallsToTheWall
07.12.10 | tis good then. |
TheBaneofSputnik
07.12.10 | And Blake's right, except it wasn't 12 thread, numbnuts. It was probably triple that!!! Lol. |

07.12.10 | plus i don't even know why we're bothering to still talk about the Heat, when the Bulls signed Kyle mutha fuckin Korver to a 3 year deal
