Where To Next?

In the wake of some Sam Adams-drenched, fireworky festivities that somehow vaguely relate to America, I face a series of serious choices. Basically, I ask you guys to let me know where I should go from each of these albums (and novel), in terms of each artist's back catalog. Cool beans? Cool beans.
1Outkast
Speakerboxxx/The Love Below

My inclination: Stankonia.
My hesitation: People seem to almost unanimously say Stankonia is Outkast's best album. The reason I don't know about going right to that one, then, is basically being scared that afterward everything else they've done will be viewed as a disappointment in comparison.
2Stars of the Lid
The Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid

My inclination: And Their Refinement of the Decline.
My hesitation: Eh, not a lot. I heard they really hit their stride with the most recent stuff, in terms of both power and accessibility. To be fair, I'm not really a huge fan of ambient/drone; I like it in small doses, but it's definitely not my top genre. Even so, I'm interested in knowing which of their early records are worth a listen to a casual fan.
3Phoenix
Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

My inclination: It's Never Been Like That.
My hesitation: Not knowing what to expect, more or less.
4Primordial
To The Nameless Dead

My inclination: The Gathering Wilderness.
My hesitation: The only reason I'm inclining that way is because I like the name. Which might not be the best of reasons to buy an album.
5 Cormac McCarthy
Blood Meridian

My inclination: Either Child of God or The Border Trilogy.
My hesitation: Not really a hesitation. Just trying to find out which one of these more people would recommend. I hear Child of God is incredibly harrowing and dark (which I'm a fan of), but The Border Trilogy is a lot more expansive and epic in scope. Blood Meridian, for its part, had both of these elements pretty well entwined.
