"What's really funny is that while Klosterman can be pretentious, self-aggrandizing, and inauthentic, Mark Ames spawned a 3000-word non-rebuttal that somehow managed to be more arrogant, more condescending, and more vacuous than Klosterman ever was at any point in "Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs". I'm not sure if that's what Ames was going for (out-assholing an asshole whose fame you resent?), but it's definitely what he ended up with. Also, I'm not sure Ames understands what the term "flip-flop" means, so maybe he should look into that before using it 25 times in an essay. Just saying."
hey zeno, that pretty much sums up my thoughts on that angry rant whose best argument consisted of mocking klosterman's physical features.
thanks tigershark for actually recommending something; the rest of you are blacklisted. |

07.01.10 | I've been meaning to check out HP because I know he was more or less King's greatest influence and seeing as how King is my favorite author...
I looked at Barnes and Noble's website and they have an 1000+ page collection of all of his fiction for like $12. Looks pretty promising. |

Anything of Philip Dick is just amazing, but Ubik is quite heavy for a start.
I would recommend you Isac Asimov's, I Robot-nothing similar with the movie-,or Robots of Dawn. These are short stories collections, and I'm sure it's the best sci-fi can give you.
Cormac Mccarthy is interesting too |
