Demon Hunter's "Carry Me Down."
Eminem's "Rock Bottom."
Gary Jules' version of "Mad World." |

07.01.10 | I dunno, maybe it was the repetition of "it's over" and "can't you feel these dreams, it's o(oh oh)ver," but granted, my music taste is very.....strange. iunno. |
jacks592
07.01.10 | sad lyrics are an obvious giveaway, but when the actual music emotes sadness or a certain longing emotion, like Radiohead's Reckoner, or Mayonaise by Smashing Pumpkins, thats what really gets me. some sweet recs so far though.. |
Winsomniac
07.01.10 | I dunno, something about The Creature Walks gives off a really defeated vibe IMO, same with a lot of the other recs I gave. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but that's how music is. |

07.01.10 | hey sometimes those are the best songs to recommend to people. i mean everyone telling everyone the same shit, we would get nowhere. |
Masochist
07.01.10 | Yeah...imagine if everyone had rec'd "Mad World" or Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt"...no one gets anywhere like that.
But while I speak of covers that everyone's heard, let me say that John Cale's version of "Hallelujah" (the one that plays in Shrek) is the most melancholy version I've ever heard. It's also my favorite, my owning Jeff Buckley's 'Grace' notwithstanding. |
Winsomniac
07.01.10 | haha that part of Shrek was SO melancholy, and the song definitely made it. But agreed, iunno, I like my sad songs all wistful, almost whiny sounding. |

07.04.10 | "Maybe it's just me but I find Say Yes and Never Meant to be pretty uplifting"
well if you read the lyrics of each song, they are both pretty depressing. but i know what you mean, it sounds more uplifting than sad, but the stories in the songs are definitely sad. |
