06.30.10 | new music is awesome. It's taken about 50 years but genres are starting to break away allowing artists to be far more free than they have ever been. Then with the advent of the internet music you would never hear of has become widely available. The internet, with sites such as RYM,...Sputnik and most obviously Pitchfork has allowed formally independent bands become internationally famous ( Arcade Fire). Then finally over the past Radiohead has brought in waves of new ideas to the music industry. While you can criticizes Kid A of making rock childish it has completely changed the way music is recognized. Gone are the days of billboard 100 dedicating what is the best music, know viral videos and the blogosphere are the measures of success. Finally In Rainbows brought a new, and better way of distributing music to the fans into the mainstream. We are living in golden age of music. |

06.30.10 | ya but RYM deals with that pretty easily. I don't think percentage wise there is more bad music then before. There is just so much more music being made. Also remember in the 60's and 70's there was tonnes of bad music but no one remembers/ cares about it anymore so it is forgotten. |

06.30.10 | Right...there are some bands that I don't listen to for reasons other then their music. Hell Yeah is one of them. But I've heard "Alcohaulin' Ass"...don't need to hear any more, ever.
On the plus side, it's because of Hell Yeah that I got into Fair To Midland.
