06.16.10 | i thought Shutter Island was awesome, visually speaking. plot was a bit linear/predictable, but it was based on a book so if you didn't know that about it going in it's really your fault. I thought the camera angles, composition, lighting and effects were amazing though. DiCaprio's performance was a bit exaggerated, but wasn't bad.
I can't make up my mind on Inception, PG-13 ratings usually worry me. I'll still see it, obviously. |

06.16.10 | The atmosphere and the visuals were stunning in Shutter Island, but it was so boring and drawn-out that I couldn't take it. This is coming from a guy who doesn't hesitate to see a Scorcese movie, considering it's my favorite director.
Plus, I've read the book(lol, my favorite modern author is Dennis Lehane), and I knew what to expect. I just felt Scorcese didn't do a great job of taking that book and turning it into a movie. |

I thought it was pretty enjoyable, albeit a little slow at times (which generally doesn't bother me) and yeah, I'm a huge Scorsese buff so I was already prone to like it. It's not like most of his other movies where I want to buy it and watch it multiple times, but it was still better than a lot of movies that come out these days. |

06.16.10 | Check out Dicaprio's early work in This Boy's Life. Fucking great. He was good in What's Eating Gilbert Grape(when Johnny Depp wasn't so eccentric) as well. He's a great actor, he just tends to be a bit annoyoing to watch every now and then. |

Leo is a great actor, especially in The Departed but I generally think the movies he's in are just amazing, so his performance looks better. I don't know, he just never really amazes me but I'm not taking anything from him because he still is very good. |
