Tool/driving test

So I passed my driving test a few days ago...now I just need to pass the written for my license. It wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be but still. On a separate note I started listening to Tool again after becoming sick of them a year or so ago...and am getting into them all over again. I still haven't gotten Undertow so these are my 15 favorites from their other three.
1Tool
Third Eye

The Bill Hicks sample at the beginning does a surprisingly good job and building the song up to the first
verse. From then on the song is a wonderful, frantic, grandiose, and sometimes flat-out unsettling 13-
minute trip. It took a long time for this one to click with me but it's taken its right place as my favorite
Tool
song.
2Forty Six & Two

This one's full of memorable instrumentation, and features a very powerful and driven performance by
MJK. First song I heard by Tool.
3Eulogy

The intro may be a little too long, but it really takes off after that with a soaring chorus and passionate
lyrics.
4Parabol/Parabola

One of Tool's simplest post-Undertow songs, yet undeniably one of their most catchy and energetic.
Master
performances all around, and when Maynard kicks his vocals up from a soft whisper to a mighty scream
in
the second chorus the song doesn't let go.
5Schism

This one's just a classic.
6Aenema

One of Tool's most angry tracks. Very aggressive and in-your-face throughout, I can imagine it being a
great live track.
7Right in Two

The lyrics are a bit out there at times but this is easily my favorite off of 10,000 days. From the sombre
opening guitar line, to Maynard's complacent vocals, to the power climactic finale, this one stands as
one of
Tool's best songs.
8Lateralus

This was my favorite Tool song for a long time, but at nearly nine and a half minutes long, it grows a
bit
lengthy and repetitive. The guitar work is particular interesting through out with the 9-8-7 work in the
chorus, despite a bit of a monotone performance by MJK. The strongest part of the song would have to
be
the bridge near the end.
9The Grudge

I really enjoy the drumming on this one. Unlike Tool's other openers this one's a definite slow burner,
but
it features all band members functioning at their tightest when it gets going. Also you can't not mention
MJK's 30 second roar seven minutes in...
10Vicarious

Running out of things to say here...a fun hard-rocking song. Lyrics are a bit weak but it's instrumentally
tight and has a catchy, accessible chorus.
11Stinkfist

Fisting.
1210,000 Days

Even though this song is well over 10 minutes in length, it really doesn't feel so to me. It's another slow
burner, and features some of MJK's most passionate vocals, as well as some haunting rhythmic
interplay.
13The Pot

Some of MJK's vocals irk me on this one but the chorus is undeniably catchy.
14The Patient

This one sounds more like an APC song until the absolutely monstrous chorus.
15Jimmy

Perhaps Tool's most under-appreciated song. I dig the stoner-metal riffing the solid work provided by
the
rhythm section. It's also pretty damn cool how Maynard's vocals become a little more powerful with each
chorus until he's screaming the last one.
