"Look at me being all alternative, I'm hating The Beatles". Congratulations, dickwad. Sure you can not like their music, but if you don't respect it or appreciate it then get the fuck out. In one way or another, The Beatles influenced your favourite band, no question. When it comes to The Beatles, personal opinion does not come into account regarding their status, they ARE the greatest band ever. "Ooh, look at me, I'm hating Nirvana because I've only heard Teen Spirit and Kurt Cobain's death, like, made them the best band ever in everyone's eyes". Ever tire of being an idiot? Sure, their music wasn't the most original thing ever. Sure, Cobain, on a technical level, was a sloppy guitarist and singer. And Nevermind is one of the most overrated albums ever. Too bad In Utero shits all over Nevermind. Too some extent, Nirvana are overrated. But only because they are not the greatest band ever and Nevermind is their worst of the three studio albums. But you cannot deny their influence (they destroyed hair metal. You can only be thankful for that) and Kurt was a fucking great songwriter in terms of hooks and pouring his heart out. Unquestionably, Kurt was, and is, one of the greatest frontmen in music.
Oh, and you know what's retarded? People bawwing over how Nirvana overshadowed all the other grunge bands. Pearl Jam were only one of, if not THE, biggest-selling band of the 90s. | | 3 | Radiohead
"Ooh, look at me being alternative, I think Radiohead are a pile of poop" Get you. Again, Radiohead are one of, if not the, most vital band of the past fifteen years. Yes, they are not the happiest band on the planet, and yes, Thom can come across as a bit of a twat sometimes (personally, I love the man). But, similar to Nirvana, they brought true genuineity back into music. They are not afraid to experiment the hell out of their music, whether audiences dig it or not. And NO, they are not boring. Admittedly, Kid A is a bit overrated (I prefer Amnesiac), but the argument that they are boring only applies to songs such as Nude and House Of Cards (which I don't really like). Listen to Just. if "how good a band is considered" / "how good a band actually is" > 1, this means they are overrated.
< 1 means they are underrated.
So obviously these 3 bands are not underrated.
The Beatles are so massively influential and hyped and important that it is virtually impossible for them to not be overrated. That's not a knock on them, that's just the truth.
Nirvana were musically worthless compared to their hype and I disagree with 90% of your reasoning.
Radiohead is a good band. Hell, they're a great band. Possibly the most important and consistent band of the last 2 decades. But it's when people start talking about them in the context of GOAT that it becomes laughable. Not even close. | Emim

Nirvana just copied Neil Young/ The Pixies and no one caught on, then Cobain died and they got super famous
