Aids At Sasquatch 2010
Of the 19 shows I saw enough of to judge, I've ranked them.
Incidentally, Sasquatch rocks so so so hard. |
| 19 | Pavement
Seeing as they were supposed to be the headliners, I thought this show
was a bit disappointing. Sure, they played well, but the vocals were bad
and there was no energy. |
| 18 | OK Go
A mediocre band with one song that everyone knows makes for a decent at
best concert. Still, it was pretty fun rocking out to that one song. |
| 17 | Tegan and Sara
Meh, they were pretty decent. Kinda boring though. |
| 16 | Kid Cudi
A rapper I didn't know of. I don't like much rap but this guy was good and
his DJ was unreal. |
| 15 | The Middle East
Don't know much about this band but we were relaxing near the stage
when they were playing and I like it. |
| 14 | MGMT
As expected, no one cared about their new songs (except for maybe Brian
Eno) but everyone went nuts during Time to Pretend, Electric Feel, The
Youth, and Kids. Really good show, but they've got some pretty
unfortunate looking band members (especially the drummer who was
rocking the most pedophile-esque stache' I've ever seen). |
| 13 | Band of Horses
Don't much like their music but they're great live. They had so much energy. |
| 12 | Cymbals Eat Guitars
One word: sweaty. |
| 11 | Vampire Weekend
Another band I didn't really like until I saw them. I was dancing the whole
time, and I'm not much of a dancer. The singer has got a great voice, too. |
| 10 | Craig Robinson
Better known as Daryl from The Office. He did a comedy set with his
keyboard and it was hilarious. He even played that song from The Office.
The one that goes "Dunder-Mifflin. People paper paper people...." |
| 9 | Dirty Projectors
I really didn't like these guys until I saw them live but when I saw them
perform I was an instant fan. Those ladies have some killer vocals. |
| 8 | Ween
The festival closers and the favourite band of my friend who I was there
with. I don't know them that well but we got really close and the songs are
sooooo hilarious. "Smile on mighty Jesus, Spinal Meningitis got me down"
Classic. |
| 7 | Mumford and Sons
My first show of the weekend and it set a good tone for the days to follow.
They all took turns on the drum kit which was sweet. During their last
song, The Middle East came out, all with a drum or shaker or something at
lit shit up for the last five minutes. |
| 6 | Broken Social Scene
Their show convinced me to listen to their records more carefully and I think
Forgiveness Rock Record might soon get a rating bump from me... |
| 5 | Japandroids
They were made to be a live band. Met them after as well and they were
really cool guys. |
| 4 | Deadmau5
I'm not big into music of the electronica variety but this show was off the
hook. The set was awesome and he wears a white LED mouse head.
Trippy as balls. |
| 3 | The National
Pretty sure I cried during Bloodbuzz Ohio. Just sayin' I got them to sign my
vinyl of High Violet as well. |
| 2 | Massive Attack
"Why you try to take me to this party and breath? I'm trying to leave."
They closed the main stage on the second night and played a Mezzanine
heavy set. |
| 1 | My Morning Jacket
They closed the main stage on the first day and were absolutely
phenomenal. They had a good 3 or 4 extended jams and the light show
was incredible. |
